Yet another reason I don't listen to complainers on message boards....

What a surprise, I saw Windtalkers for the first time and really liked it, and knew that I'd find a flock of people on IMDB yelling "THS MOVEI IS TEH SUX0RZZ LOLS ZOMG!!!" It seems that a lot of decent films that review well by professionals get bad word of mouth from message board trolls. Case in point, Windtalkers and King Arthur, two films I watched recently. I enjoyed both, found a lot to like, but of course you're always going to have some 14 year old computer nerd saying "WORST MOVIE EVER!" on the internet. Obviously the people that say this didn't sit through the amount of MST3K I have, but that's not the point. It's obvious that this is an over the top action film that just HAPPENS to be taking place during WW II. It is NOT the worst war film ever made, in fact it's quite enjoyable (and offers more action than most recent war films). It beats the hell out of Pearl Harbor, thats for sure.

In my opinion it is one of the worst war films ever made. It's right down there with "Pearl Harbor" and "Battle of the Bulge". Cheesy acting, over the top unrealistic action, over exaggerated explosions, bad location, cliched characters, they misrepresented the codetalkers.

Veterans hated it, historians hated it, I hate it.

The only people who would say this is a good movie are random people who show no interest in WWII, and know nothing about WWII. The same people who think Steven Segal movies are the greatest.

Bull. And of course, you're one of the same few people who continually come here to bash the movie. I'm guessing you were born in 1987, right? So of course, you're the master critic of all cinema based on WW II, right? I have a great interest in WW II. It's a good movie. Maybe you need a new hobby, stop wasting time here if you don't like it.

Like I said, it's my opinion that this movie sucks. An opinion shared by millions of other people. If you want to oppose it, be my guest.

Those are two sentences I thought I would never see side by side when describing "Windtalkers". And I'm going to keep on posting how bad the movie is until someone gives a legitamite reason why this is a good movie. Is "Windtalkers" off limit to criticism?

And nice job taking short cuts through arguments by stating someone's age. Sometimes age has nothing to do with it.

reply

What better reason do you need than it's fun to watch? Bla bla, you didn't like it, a lot of people did.

You must be reaaaally bored if you've been posting about a movie you don't like for this long.

Oh please, "Jackass" was fun. But after a couple viewings I don't feel the need to watch it again. And spending money on the DVD would be a mistake.

If you can get past the historical mistakes, bad local, cliched characters, bad acting, and overdone explosions "Windtalkers" is actually a decent movie ;-)

reply

AN87 is right! Windtalkers is a sorry piece of cinematic dung! Only a war video game brat could admire such a flop.

Yes, it made me weep openly in the theater, but only because the theater management wouldn't refund my money. Even the popcorn tasted bad during the viewing.

reply

Wrong. The producers and actors and everyone associated with the film will say this is a good movie. Right?

reply

I'm sorry but Windtalkers blew ass as an action movie and as a war moive. I was surprised that they could actually make a main stream release movie that bad.

Seriously, movies like Platoon and more recently, Saving Private Ryan, have set the 'bar' for war movies. Watching Windtalkers was like going back in time and remaking a John Wayne flick. I mean come on, we are soooo past the "spin around and fire your Thompson sub-machine gun full auto from the hip and kill all the rushing enemy soldiers with your never ending clip". Good god. The only one this might impress or entertain is a 5yr old with A.D.D. This type of "action" is 100% cheese ball and has no place in movies today...unless you are trying to make a spoof on purpose!

All I can say is that I am soo glad they kick John Woo off directing the upcoming Rainbow 6 movie!!! He would have f'd that one up too!

This movie is like snakes on a plane to me. It is so bad that it is fun to watch. Except with snakes on a plane I expected that, with this movie I expected something decent. Although this is nowhere near the worst war movie. Pearl harbor as you add is far worse. The Italian movie the Battle of El Alemein is way worse than this. Also your 1987 line. People who were born in 1985 and 1986 are graduating now and can have history degrees so they have a valid contribution to these forums.

Oh the irony, those are the people who would actually like this film, my bro was born in 1987 (making him 19 not 14) and thanks to growing up watching most of the best fims ever made (thanks to me and my other bro) he could tell you within 5 mins this film is a piece os $hit and an insult to the Native American it's supposed to be about.

It's far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion

Jesus Christ spoke to me today, and he also said that "Windtalkers" sucked.

im guessing your also into movies like date movie, and meet the spartans, cause you seem to like crap. if you enjoy this movie fine, these boards are not made to talk about how you like, movies. THEY ARE MADE TO BASH THEM, cause they all suck.

reply

I would never say this is the worst movie ever, however, it is more bad than good. Entertaining, yes, but other than that is a pretty crappy movie.

I think I read somewhere that this is actually a prequel of another famous Hollywood franchise who happens to be Ender's grandson...What's his name?

Oh yes, John Rambo :)

Life is precious, and it’s our own - not any god’s.

I thought it was awesome - gave it an 8. I cannot believe the number of people saying it was funny and cheesy. What is wrong with these people? I was very moved and thought Adam Beach did a great job.

reply

Yep, agree... 

Bad movies can be very entertaining and it is obvious you were entertained by this movie. There is nothing wrong with that. But of course at the same time it doesn't make is a good movie. It's when people start going on that this is the best movie ever, blah blah, blah, then you get the negative posts.

Case in point is the really terrible movie, Surviving Christmas, it is an absolutely BAD movie. But I find it entertaining and still watch it. Sure I know it's a bad movie but I like watching it anyway. You aren't gong to find me making posts that it's Gandolfini's best movie ever or that it is the best christmas movie ever. Windtalkers is a really bad movie that you find entertaining.
