Not enough focus on the Navaho code talkers!

Now I watched this movie today and although it isn't great by any
means it certainly isn't terrible. Though my main issues are:

1. The plot focused too much on the battle/action scenes and not
enough character development of the two main Navaho characters.

2. We the viewers did not learn much about the "code talkers"
and their primary purpose in fighting the Pacific campaign
in the war against Japan.

I definitely blame the writers, producers and director John Woo
for what could have and should have been a much better overall
quality film! I wish that there was a director's cut version
available so will be searching online for such a DVD.

I totally agree ... this film tells the very important story of the Wind Talkers ... but totally looses it's focus. In the end it was about explosions and Enders. If they had toned these elements down and added more detail of the WT this would have been soooooo much better.

Thank you. I wanted to know if I should endure Nicholas Cage to get some education about that interesting and important part of history and now I know I should not.
