What is this movie about?

GOOD QUESTION, Chanel! And..It would have been a good idea for the writers/directors to ask themselves that question before they started making it! Because they never seemd to have decided on what it was they were trying to get across. A totally disjointed and incoherent film.

The movie is, on one level, about choices and consequences. It gives an absurdist view of how one act of infidelity can have very drastic and far-reaching consequences for many people, not just the ones that were directly involved in the act initially. On another level, I think it's about the idea of fate vs. the idea of free will, and how these two (seemingly) mutually exclusive ideas can coexist. In the movie, we're presented with 2 alternate timelines, one where the kiss occurs, and one where it doesn't. If you watch the 2 closely, you'll notice that certain things occur in both of the timelines (like meetings between certain characters, similar conversations, etc.) but beyond those specific things, the 2 timelines have very little in common because the kiss and all its ensuing consequences occured in the one timeline but not in the other. So I think the writer was trying to say that we are fated to experience certain specific things in our lives and there is no escaping them. However, we retain all the control in all other areas (or times) and thus can choose how we will think, feel, and act in response to our moments of fate -- sort of a mixture of the two.

Then again maybe it was just about screwing around on your significant other, and how a lot of people end up getting screwed because of it.
