I'd actually also like to know that... I thought it was a movie of the book Perfume, but obviosly not! Can someone let us know what it is about?

the movie was all improvised by the actors. They were given an outline of each scene. I don't think it was really suppose to be an expose.

I grew up in a house dominated by Vogue magazine. I enjoyed this film very much because it reveals the irony of people turning to the image factory that is the fashion business in order to promote their own "unique" self images.

It can't be easy to make a deep film about shallow people, people who hide their shallowness in artificial depth, or deep people who hide their depth in artificial shallowness.

Perfume is one of the purest character movies I have ever seen--the character exposition subordinating any plot.

A scene that particularly amazed me is a young Michelle Williams playing a raggedy Ann estranged daughter having "tea" with her fashion magazine editor mom. They attempted to lift the long standing wall between them, but down it came again when Michelle started to explain to her mom why the fashion industry makes girls hate themselves. After all, she was threatening her mom's entire raison d'etre.

If you love fashion, maybe you will hate this film. If you hate fashion...
