What did you rate 'P.S. Your Cat is Dead' (2002)?

Steve Guttenberg directs himself in this adaptation of James Kirkwood's novel and play about an actor and would-be novelist whose life is going to hell when a burglar (Lombardo Boyar) breaks into his apartment for the third time. He captures the thief and hog-ties him to his kitchen counter. Then things get really crazy.

Guttenberg is over the top; Boyar is terrific in this kinky black comedy with a sweet ending. I gave it an 8, but the IMDb rating is low and the reviews were awful.

What did you rate this movie? And what do you think of it?

I heard that they rip the movie to shreds in the commentary. Strange. If even they have mixed feelings about their work, I wonder why mine are relatively unmixed. I wanted to read the novel, but my library doesn't have it. I ordered the play instead, and it should be coming soon.

My trouble with Guttenberg is that he overdid the comedic parts. Boyar was much better in both his comic and his serious moments. I like the final ending better than the earlier one. The final ending seems to suggest what the deleted one states outright.
