'My mother....before she died'

Seriously, was anyone else really annoyed by this? The amount of times this is said in various words in the film ... Mary couldn't mention her mother without mentioning that she had cancer, or died, or was dead, or something in that fashion. I'd take her a little more seriously if she wasn't so ridiculous.

Ever lose a parent? Or anyone you really, really cared about? The loss becomes all-consuming. It eats at you every moment of every day and talking about it is often the only release you get from it...the only way to explain it to others and to yourself. It's a very human reaction.
