What the hell was the purpose of Izabella Miko in this?

Honestly, I've just seen it, and I'm really bothered by one thing - what was actually the purpose of Izabella Miko in this movie?

I think she's a good actress, but really, most of the movie she's either unconscious, or just doesn't speak at all, her role is very wasted and she gets a satisfying amount of screen-time just in the last 20 minutes of the movie!

I know her character is very important and that the story pretty much revolves around her, but does anyone else agree she should have gotten more screen-time and not be wasted so much?

I felt really badly for Izabella Miko during this film.
She had no lines for about 1 hour of running time in the film
She had to do nudity

I thought she was fantastic in the movie Coyote Ugly and I feel like she was cheated in this film.

I wish she had a more dialouge during the film

She was there to be beautiful, for us heterosexual men... And for the ocassional lesbian or bisexual person... Just like the guys were chosen for gay guys and non-lesbian women...

TuDiosEsMiBastardo is soooooooooooooo right, but I still feel bad about her... She can do pretty decent with enough screen time.

What was the purpose of this movie anyways?

Making Kerr Smith look mega hot. And it still was an entertaining movie, I liked it.

I thought she served the story quite well, and that's an actor's main job.

Her admittedly pretty body parts were there to distract homophobes from the fact that the main guys ended up together. Fun for all.

Okay I had to read the OP twice, because at first it looked like you were asking what Miko's purpose was in the film (like you thought some other actress would have been better). Then I realized what you were really asking was what was Miko's CHARACTER'S purpose in the film.

Her character's purpose for being there was to:

A) add depth to the story by showing that the groupe of vampires had been busy doing things to people other than just killing them.

B) be the lure. Did you not catch that part about the guys using her as a lure via the so-called "extra sensory connection" or whatever the vampire hunter guy called it?

C) bite and infect the main character. The story had him being infected. Since they didn't really skirmish with the main vampire & co until later in the film they needed someone like her to be the one to do it.

Plot may be a bit weak, writing may be a bit weak as well, but as the movie stands that's how it all plays out. I think she did an okay job of it given the circumstances. Plus she's got that look about her, like it's hard to tell exactly how young or old she is. I found myself wishing she had played a bigger part in the story, especially at the end, but as the movie stands, there you have it.

Same. She's a lovely girl and a talented actress (bye bye blackbird) but she was so irrelevant in this.
