Precursor to Supernatural

I enjoyed the Forsaken or Desert Vampires. And yes it does have the buddy film feel with a slight tinge of homoeroticism. Not that I am complaining, the actors a really cute and make a cute "couple". I also like the story and the film was pretty good visually. But one thing really stuck in my mind, it really reminds me of the TV show Supernatural. A have watched Supernatural since it first aired and I just watched this movie and can't get it out my mind. The Forsaken (Desert Vampires) just really reminds of this show. Does anyone else see this?
