If a fluffer's job apart from keeping the actor clean is to keep an actor aroused for the scene, and the actor in that case is supposedly heterosexual, then why not finding a woman to do it?Doesn't make sense at all.

The movie wouldn't be interesting at all at this point. So that may be a reason. A film should keep the viewer interested in the first place.

Also, remember Silver saying that Rebel is straight only in his mind? Take it as you wish.

He wasn't originally hired to be a fluffer, Johnny picked him out and asked him 'to help out a little'. Johnny chose HIM and thats the whole point, Johnny's sexuality is meant to be ambiguous.

I don't see Johnny as gay or straight just a narcissist getting off on power and control where he can.
