Why don't Lucasarts make more games like this...

...rather than making lame Star Wars games which basically rip off other genres of games? They were making Sam and Max 2 and Full Throttle 2 but canned these as they need way too much marketing.

Couldn't agree more. They were so good at their genre (and you didn't die every five seconds like you did in the old Sierra games). For some reason it appears like 3D killed them.

Nah it wasnt that, acording to what i read on the Scumm bar site a long time ago about when they asked why isnt there a monkey 5 in the works, the interview detialed how LucasArts don't think theres not enough appeal for adventure games anymore and are focusing on other projects or somthing. So no monkey island 5 till 2015 so i hear. But still i think this is totally bull to be honest, out of all the amazing graphical games out there, Monkey 5 would be the only game i would care about comming out... So not enough appeal? Yeah right.

Well, Shenmue 3 might over throw it, but they're both up there in my most wanted list.

I loved this game... All the series. I think there should be more like this out in the market. And, yeah, I agree with fish_finger88, Monkey 5 would be the only game that I would mind if it came out. I played the four of them one after the other and it was fantastic. No shooting game in which killing people actually makes you win... Just using you brains or whatever you got inside...

shemue 3 will be good if they make it run faster it's so god damn slow.

I'm glad they don't make them. Escape From Monkey Island was a terrible insult to Monkey Island, LucasArts, and the adventure genre. If you haven't played it, I'd reccomend Myst 4.

The simple answer to this question is that Star Wars brings in more money that 10 year old game like Monkey Island

reply

Well, Sam and Max has been picked up by another company (Tell-tale games). Maybe the same will happen with the Monkey Island series? :D

reply

Kind of agree, but I'd say the reason they are not making adventure games anymore is because games like Monkey4 sucked. The old style was much better.
