Why do they use so much Jersey slang?

"Shoobie," "Mischeif night," even referring to the beach as the "shore" are all words pretty specific to New Jersey. If the show is set in California, why do they use these words so much?
Were the writers from Jersey?

Just wondering. Great show, grew up on this!

I dig your groovy tunes, man. Did you hear me? I said I dig your groovy tunes, man!

Since they are in California(southern I think), most of the show's language is actually common for that region and the skateboard/surf/extreme sport culture.

words like ''gnarly'' and ''shredding''(in response to surfing) is VERY common in southern cali. Many of the slang terms they use are a light mix of skateboard and hip hop culture (I say light because this is a kids show on Nick). They use words like ''beef''(hip hop) and bust(hip hop).

I am not sure about shoobie and mischief night lol. I am from the south and we don't really say those. I do know gamers like to say ''noob'' for ''newbie'', but who knows lol.

I'm really late to this post but, I think these terms are used everywhere. I've never been to New Jersey (or Southern California), but I've lived in 4 different states and have traveled to about half the other states. These terms I have heard used pretty much all over. For example, I grew up on Lake Michigan, we always called the beach the shore (I know that is different than an ocean shoreline). Although mischief night does seem more common on the east coast. Just my thoughts on the topic.
