ATTENTION all those who are 25-32 years of age... PLEASE!!!!

For all those who are 25-32, I am in need of your assistance...

I am a person who does not have the knowledge of the culuture you grew up in at a certain time, that time being 1990-1998.

What am I asking:
I am currently doing a project that requires some understanding of the differences for culture of that time, specifically with respect to language. What I would like if you could, is tell me any and everything that was different or that happened in this time period in language. What kind of slang did you use, what did people often say, words, phrases, what did they quote. What would you do to insult a person, at the age of 14,15,16,17,18... In what words would express different feelings towards another, the most opvious being insults or anger. Ex: Today's culture, if someone got their ass handed to them someone might say "Owned" or even "pwned", what would you say instead back then.

I am desperate to understand the language, specifially the slang and common interaction language that people of this age used at this time, tell me what you did personally, what you remmber your friends did, or even what was a generally understood practice for language...

This would be a great great help, I welcome any form or amount of contribution...

Thank You!!

P.S. If you could also list what your favorite shows, films, or bands were at what time in your life, that would be amazing. Ex. When I was 17 I watched Rocko, Doug, listened to Weezer, Nirvana, Beck, and Collective Soul, and I loved Clerks, Pulp Fiction, and Se7en. Just an example~

Normality is incredibly weird.

I hate people who go around saying that if you were born anywhere around 1989-1991 you suddenly don't know anything about the 90s. Dude I owned most things that were popular in the 90s, I recognize the things people talk about from the 90s, the fashion sense, the music. So you know what go stuff yourself!!! You were probably too old to even be watching bloody Nickelodeon, go back to your rocking chair you old fart.

I was mainly a kid in the 90s too, but the only thing I can say is that it was totally different from now. Totally is one of the words used back then :) It was very unique, and it was so special that there are not exact words to describe the magic of the 90s or being a 90s kid..it's something you had to experience yourself. here is a link to a facebook group dedicated to the 90s (im part of it too) https://www.facebook.com/90s90s90s

& im sure there are a ton of other 90s fb groups...anyway, everything was so different. Of course being a kid, all my world consisted of was watching cartoons and eating different 90s foods (dunkaroos for example, playing with toys back then (the original furbee, giga pet, GAK, moon shoes, etc.)hanging out with my friends and just being in our own world, using our imaginations, playing outside and being home before dark, because that's when parents were allowed to have control over there kids & did there jobs as parents unlike today. Cartoons were worth watching, there are too many to list but you can find them if you google cartoons of the 90s, specifically on the channels Nickeloden, abc family, fox family, Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, Toonami, Boomerang.....a good cartoon to look up on youtube to get an idea of the style (and just because it's a good show) is Clarissa Explains it All..link to it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fD_TzJ4b58

The most popular trends I remember in the 90s were hair scrunchies, overalls, sneakers with different colored socks, tying your jacket/sweater around your wasit, butterfly hair clips, faded jeans & t shirts, wearing a spaghetti strap shirt on top of a t shirt....everything about the 90s was simple yet eccentric and I think it sometimes blended certain elements from previous times (60s 70s 80s..)the 90s still has a certain vibe to it, it just has that something that makes it the most unique and unforgettable times in the world, I don't think it had a certain theme with it like the 60s hippies or 70s disco or 80s rebel/rockNroll... (besides the 80s of course :p ) Google toys, clothing, music, etc. in the 90s..with the way internet is today (a LOT better, faster and different than compared when it just entered the world in the 90s through Microsoft apple computers thanks to steve jobs who is now passed away) People listened to music on boom boxes, cassette players, or cd players....we didn't have ipods or iphones or could go on youtube and the internet to look up music back then. I miss the 90s so much :'( hope this helps!

& I think people like you of today will have to go to Wikipedia to get a glipse of the 90s lol I think you would be more interested in pop culture

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1990s

& this is an old skool VH1 segment on the whole 90s era, mainly the pop culture of the time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujvV2aXV1EM

the 90s was such a simple time in life, and very different..just magical, where kids could be kids. everything ruled in the 90s!

and use this as a guide too http://www.buzzfeed.com/melismashable/25-ways-to-tell-youre-a-kid-of-the-9

other random 90s sayings: DUHH, WHATEVER, Talk to the hand cause the face aint listening, saying PSYCHE after a sentence when your joking with someone, duuude, oh no she didn't!...

ok that's all I can think of, hope all this stuff helps! :)

The 90s was only better if you was a kid. I was a 90s kid. No decade is perfect.
Its just cool in the eyes of a child, just play with your toys, watch cartoons, SM:TV or Live & Kicking, Fun House. Eat chocolate and sweets. It was just a fun time.
2010 kids probably think now is really cool.

This is really why I wish I was an 70s or 80s kid the way everyone says the 90s was the best.
Is everyone obsessed with the 90s or something its everywhere.
