3D Games Suck, 2D Games Rock

My Opinion

Not all, there are some great 3D games:

Grim Fandango (Tim Schafer)

Beyond good & Evil

Psychonauts (Tim Schafer)

and hopefully the new Sam & Max (Steve Purcell)

I say it can be difficult to change a 2D game into a 3D game. I play 2D games more than 3D. I am about to try Heroes of Might and Magic 5 - which is the first to be 3 dimensional. I hope it's better with 3D graphics but there's a good chance it wont be.

Can anyone recommend another game to try, similar to the Monkey Island games? I've tried Loom - but didn't really enjoy it.

Monkey Island Is the greatest. Nobody can top this (except maybe Grim Fandango). But still I can recomend some wich are worth take a look at:

I imagine you played all the Monkey Island games (there are 4 from Lucasarts).
One and Two are the original from their creator Ron Gilbert. 3 and 4 are not, just a regular company's game. 3 is still worth trying, on the 4th you have to judge yourself.

Then there is:

"Grim Fandango" by Tim Schafer (Lucasarts)
This was the first 3D Adventure Game and it was by far the best telling an epic story as you wander through 4 years in the afterlife, a great gaming experience for shure. If I had to choose one game to call it art, this one would be it. It's only flaw is since it was the first 3D game of it's genre the controls are pretty sloppy and sometime it's frustrating untill you get used to it, but if you can see past this point you'll encounter a great game.

"Maniac Mansion 2 - The day of the Tentacle" by Tim Schafer (Lucasarts)
It's a second part but you don't need to play the first to understand the second. The original Maniac Mansion by Ron Gilbert has not aged that well, at least that's my opinion, but it was pretty revolutionary in its time, for having multiple characters and a non-linear story among other things. If you want to try the original, there is a remake called Maniac Mansion Deluxe on the net. Just google for it and you will find it.

"Sam & Max Hit The Road" by Steve Purcell (Lucasarts)

"Full Throttle" by Tim Schafer (Lucasarts) - Flaw, it's too short.

"Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis" (Lucasarts)

Those where the greatest Adventuregames. Now you notice they are all from Lucasarts, there was a time when they where the greatest and it is now known as the golden era of Lucasarts but now they only do boring Star Wars games.

If you liked Tim Schafers Games check out Psychonauts, not an adventure game and in 3D, but still very fine.

Another interesting game is beyond good and evil.
These last too games have a problem, they look like they where made for kiddies and one of the reason they where not comercially succesfull, but they are very profound and if you can get past that image you will have the 2 best games of the last few years.

Sorry for my english

thanks -

If you are ever up to trying more 2D games, I recommend a murder "whodunit" mystery called "The Colonel's Bequest" by Sierra - you can find it on any abondoned games site.

To make sure the game isn't stolen, Sierra has a little fingerprint game that you have to figure out - you'll just have to guess who's fingerprint you see out of all the names shown (good chances the fingerprint will always be Celie's)

Story of the game:
Your character is invited up to a mansion with several guests/family members. Figure out clues (there's a pretty big chunk of 'em), pick up objects and use them in other places, get all the information you can out of everyone, there's ways to spy on people etc. I really like how much freedom there is in the game, as you have to type in your actions - kinda like Hugo's House of Horrors but with more class... If you are up for a challenge and complete the game 100%, the game can be quite long - like Monkey Island.

You mean another adventure game? Try Broken Sword. Broken Sword is great, Broken Sword 2 is not quite as good but still good, BS3 kind of... well... plays more like Guitar Hero with all it's QTEs than an actual adventure game, and Broken Sword 4 gets back on form somewhat, but is kind of anti-climatic.

There's also Douglas Addams' Starship Titanic, and a few adventure games have been based on Terry Pratchet's Discworld.

But back in the day the pappies of adventure gaming were LucasArts and Serria. So check out stuff by them. More recently, an independent company founded by some old LucasArts employees called Telltale have began bringing back adventure games, and have even made a Monkey Island 5. www.telltalegames.com

Your opion is alot of crap, Monkey Island is a classic because of the humour and the puzzels not because of how many dimensions it has.

Get your self a Copy of GTA and stfu
