While I prefer "Dahmer (2002)" to "The Secret Life," I found myself really liking this version. It had everything "Dahmer" didn't and I liked seeing Jeffrey portrayed as more of an uncontrollable monster as opposed to just some misunderstood guy who happened to kill a few people. Although I still enjoy the subtlety and ambiguity of "Dahmer," "The Secret Life" just lays it all out on the table and there's something to be said for that. Especially since it was made right after it all happened. It's a shame this film isn't more well known or widely available.

This movie is exploitative, terribly acted, directed and produced. What more reason do you need.

I thought this film was quite good. It's been released on Region 1 DVD from Intervision.

totally the cheep budget sets the mood dark places poverty run down places cheep hotels sets the moot to the late 80s early 90s and its all there to see the madness the out of control freak doing what he did and then the victim omg its sad what he did and the horror of it all i was shocked and it did shock me more than the 2004 film that had fancy set ups fancy dialogue but not much else

This is not me saying this. Carl Crew who is a friend of mine wanted me to put this. This is what he said.

yet Dahmer was able to present himself in a way that attracted his victims and got them to come away with him. This sounds like someone who could take on the mantle of being regular for a bit- just enough to get them to where he wanted them and then the monster was unleashed- this is how I portrayed him people love to aattack what they don't understand but lately I have gotten some really great reviews praising the accuracy of the script since it was written from Police interviews with the horses mouth (jeff)

Also the Renner movie was very flawed in the writing with Jeffrey jumping over a fence at the end- he wasn't busted or anything- The director of this movie said some very unkind words about me due to the fact that we beat out his production by many months and he tried to spew soured milk as much as possible.
