i saw this movie for the first time last night and it was so bad i laughed through the whole thing but found i couldnt turn it off! anyway, i wondered if this was based on a book or if there was a book written? i usually find i like the books of movies i hate.

Yup, the book was written by Pearl Buck, and is probably long out of print. Try Amazon or secondhand book stores. (I got a copy cheap at Half Price)
shareThe book is by Pearl S. Buck. I highly recommend it. It's a fantastic, intelligent, wise book that expounds on a lot of issues like love, marriage, womanhood, manhood, life, death, etc. Nothing like the movie trash.
shareThe book is wonderful. I think it's Pearl Buck's best. I first read it when I was about 12--I found it at my aunt's house one boring summer day--and I've probably read it 9 or 10 times in the 45 years since then.
