What this game ever released for free?

The first Monkey Island game was (I was lucky enough to buy the magazine it came with), so I presume that is now legally downloadable, but was this ever available with a magazine as well? And can we download it for free with no problems, should we ever find it?

Limewire I guess I think this games so old that you shouldnt get into too much trouble for downloading it even if it is illegal. You have to have this game!

reply

It's hard to get hold of even if you wanted to buy it

Hard to download as well though since, from what i've found, a lot of these downloads have viruses in them

reply

Yes! You can find here: http://retrogames.intranet.hu
click on the "JÁTÉKOK"

Find "M"

and monkey island 2. Click on the 1, and type the code...now you can download.

Thank you rammbaba. What an excellent site that is! :)

Wow. That IS an awsome site. They had all the Lucas arts classics+. Though I find their lack of Full Throttle disturbing =P (the music and sounds from the game aren't comming from my speakers, but from my computer, odd. Has this happened to anyone else?)

reply

Maybe you must use Dosbox! Download it! Maybe will work with it!

Or the SCUMM VM utility from lucasarts works sometimes, too.

It's a free download from...their site.

reply

SCUMMVM has nothing to do with Lucasarts. You can find it at http://www.scummvm.org

Just download ScummVM or DOSbox (DOSbox work for basically any DOS-based game but the interface is just like the good old MS DOS which might scare you a bit. If you want a simpler program, but that only work with Lucasarts point & click games like these, and some other.)

I don't know if it's still available but I used to use D-Fend with DosBox. It's a great frontend system that sorts all the complicated bits out for you.

Really? Great, thanks!
