Michael Madsen as Frank Miller

It's unfortunately not a patch on the original and is not at all helped by being in color. But there is one major strength which it has over the original and that is the casting of Michael Madsen as Frank Miller.

The weakness of the original HIGH NOON was the casting of someone called Ian McDonald as arch enemy Frank Miller to Will Kane played by Gary Cooper.
When Michael Madsen appears you know that this is a guy not o be messed with and that is this version's best moment.
The original needed a great actor like James Cagney or Edward G Robinson or a tough guy like Broderick Crawford to step off that train.
The original is of course a classic. but in this version Michael Madsen was a great choice.
