Can't stand the wife...

Not only is her acting rather poor, or possibly brilliant(it's up to you to judge), she annoys me because she ruined Mr. Perkin's perfect plan. If it wasn't for her constant annoyances, they would have successfully been in Barcelona.

Instead the plan was ruined.

Overall, I enjoyed the movie, as I do most, but the acting wasn't the best.

everybody ruined everything if you will. ALL those characters just didn't behave rational. more like bridget jones on speed. but the wife was the worst alright.

I watched more than an hour of the film but I had to stop it because of her..oh my god!... So annoying...!

SO TRUE - SO TRUE!!
She was the worst one. Chevy was actually good in this, as was McDonald and Loggia. She was horrible!

Let's get ABC to pick up "The Class"

Yeah Ms. Miller was annoying as the wife, but her acting was not the problem, the director was more the problem than anything. Ms Miller can ACT- See her in "Miller's Crossing" sometime. Besides, I think she's still a hottie :D...

You have to remember this was a stage play before it was adapted as a movie, and if you go to see one of these farces performed on stage, EVERYONE overacts... they speak much louder than they naturally would (so everyone in the theater can hear the dialogue), they gesticulate more broadly, etc.

I say this is Greif's fault only because this is her movie, adapted from her play, and she failed to realize that, what is good farsical comedy onstage, where the audience will forgive broadly acting characters, is not good comedy in a movie, without the accompanying toned-down behavior modern movie goers expect, it was doomed to failure as looking false and forced- in other words, like bad acting).

Overall it was a decent little flick, I got a couple of small laughs surprised out of me, but there were a dozen times I said to myself, "Perkins, just leave them ALL there in that little apartment and get your butt and the briefcase to the airport..."

The only classic moment was when Chase was manipulating the sextoys he discovered in Ms Valentines briefcase. That was pure Clark Griswold for just a second there.

Man, I wish they would come out with another "Fletch" movie...

turbo445 - so it WAS a stage play, originally? I guessed it was, because it felt just like one of those oldfashioned comedies where people lie constantly on the fly and make up names and pretend to be someone else, and get deeper and deeper into trouble. Not a bad thing.

And I liked the wife precisely because she was so annoyingly stubborn. "Mmmm, Amaretto!"
