Some odd Geography

Have just watched this film and live in the area where a lot of the Battle of Britain took place (am actually in Hornchurch, which was a front-line fighter base during the Battle of Britain). There's a scene where they've just taken off and are told to head for North Weald, when suddenly they're flying over the White Cliffs of Dover - North Weald is quite a long way from the White Cliffs, even as the Spitfire flies!! And in another scene they are told to intercept a bomber that's flying over the White Cliffs as "he's heading for Sheffield!!" How can they tell that? Just because he's flying over the Kent Coast doesn't automatically mean he's heading for Sheffield. He could have been going anywhere.

But apart from that I really enjoyed the film and found a lot of it to be quite magical and the photography is superb, especially the aerial shots.

Since I'm not that good at Geography (but I still know where Hornchurch takes place!) I haven't noticed those mistakes. Yup, it happens, I don't know whether it were the director's mistakes or what, but anyway I'm glad you've enjoyed the movie.

That night,I thanked God for seeing me through that Day Of Days and prayed I'd make it through D+1.

The squadron in the film along with The Eagle Squadron were all based at Atcham Airfiled in Shropshire for their training days.

This film is very accurate - you can even see the Wenlock Edge and The Wrekin in the take-off scenes.

The geography is correct!

Great, great Film!
