Liked 'Tmavomodrý svet'? Try 'Piece of Cake'

I just watched "Tmavomodrý svet/Dark Blue World" and was very impressed from start to finish. If you also enjoyed it then you must watch "Piece of Cake", a British miniseries from 1988 with Tom Burlinson and Tim Woodward. Very similar to Dark Blue World but much more in-depth being a miniseries; colorful characters from around the globe join the R.A.F and find romance and glory during the Battle of Britain. Superb acting and great aerial cinematography. Both films are very moving.

Yeah, POC rocked. Although it wouldn't be a bad move to read the book and it's sequel,"A good clean fight".

Piece of Cake was excellent. I like the graphic scenes of where the pilots are screaming in their cockpits because bodies are on fire after their planes have been turn into flaming wrecks by the enemy. There was also a scene where a pilot landed his Spitfire; however, he lost four fingers on one hand. It shows that the air war was not clean fighting. At least, the pilots died quickly most of the time; unlike, the infantry men who died a slow, miserable, painful death on the battlefield and many of them were crying out for their comrades for help

I liked POC (7/10) but it was hurt by it's obsession with rich adolescent snots in the first couple of episodes. This made it hard for me to sympathize with any of the characters until the series was almost done. It is like they wanted to paint the war as a young man's drunken frat house adventure and an overall joke.

Despite my criticisms the series gives a great look at the spits and the Battle of Britain.
