Why did it take so long for the Czech government

to forgive the pilots? As late as 1991? Wow!!

... I hope this is still a point of interest, I'd like to answer.

Czechoslovakia was a Communist state up to 1990, and after World War 2 Communist countries did not especially like the people who fought for the western Allies during the war. They considered them "subversive elements", enemies of the state, whose experiences with western culture and lifestyle may incite unrest in the population.

After the Communist regimes faded away, many former Communist states tried to set this injustice right.

Kung-Fu movies are like porn. First it's 1-on-1, then 2-on-1, then there's a group scene...

Thanks for the explanation. Yes, i am still interested in the movie; the movie was not just entertaining, but had an element of truth/history to it.

Was this movie well-received in the czech republic, for bringing up a painful/unsettöing past etc? Cheers.

Dark Blue World was a major hit in the Czech Republic. The sad story of our WW2 pilots fighting in RAF is very well known here. Their post war imprisonement was done by communists, so there was nothing to be ashamed of among the general public.

You must be an American like me. Americans have been taught for 40 years in public schools that communism is benevolent and benign. They have noooooooooo idea... And they never will, since we are programmed here to think that the freedom we have is the true culprit to mankind.

WOW ... What part of America are you speaking of??? I grew up in American ... went to college here (3 degrees) and have never seen or heard any of that! Perhaps you struggle with the difference between Communism and Socialism.
