Great Footage and Background

This album is probably the best recording of any kind I have ever heard. I have always been a fan of Pete Townshend's work and Glyn Johns is probably the best audio engineer in the world (a true studio engineer/producer). Townshends demos sound better than most bands' final product (in fact he's released 3 CDs of his demo tapes over the years) and Johns has the same attitude I had when I was an engineer: Let the artists do their thing and get it to tape in the shortest path possible, and since Townshend was a pretty damn decent engineer himself, they made a great pair in the studio. Probably the top reason this was such a good album is because of the unusual creative process brought about by the "Lifehouse" project. All that time rehearsing the tunes in front of an audience and working off their reactions. by the time they got into the studio the songs weren't "new" they were as seasoned as they had just played them for an entire tour (not often is this the case with new material). The Best Band, the Best album in rock history (Johns also engineered Quadrophenia as well, which was also a really well made recording, and the art of recording has been lost now, I must say, as these recording sound better than any from any era).

In agreement. I'd add that Alan Parsons is one great engineer as well. The information Johns contributes to the documentary is excellent.
