Sub Commander T'Pol

If she is a sub commander, where is the sub she commands?

reply

Where is it?
Sub space

reply

I asked for that one ;-)

reply

I'm more embarrassed than you. I thought she was a sandwich shop manager..

reply

I thought that as well based on the two Torpedos she was always carrying around

reply

LOL, match conceded!

reply

Since we are not on that topic anyway, next time you are in Grand Haven, go to the Pizza 7 Sub Shoppe and order a #4

reply

Are you nuts?? The last time I asked for a #4 I got beaten within an inch of ... oh wait, that was a Subic Bay strip club.

The only time I was in Michigan was Dearborn for a meeting many moons ago.

reply

It's a Vulcan military rank; enough to place T'pol as Archer's second-in-command while also being his science officer. Vulcans must have a sub commander and a commander on their spaceships.

reply

It's just, to me it sounds like she should be subordinate to Commander Tucker.

reply

Within the universe you have to realize that "sub-commander" is an English translation of her Vulcan rank. It doesn't have any connection to the naval style ranks that Earth (and eventually the Federation) are using.

While never explicitly done on screen, if you map Vulcan ranks against Earth ranks the Vulcan rank of Sub-Commander is higher than the Earth rank of Commander.

It is confusing. If I had been writing it (and I am not a professional writer by any means, though I dabble) I would have either used a Vulcan rank directly, or mapped the Vulcan ranks to a different standard; Earth Army, Roman, Greek, or something else to avoid the Commander/Sub-Commander issue.

btw one of the people in my facebook friend's cousin played her. Not on Enterprise I think but in one of those shows. I asked to be introduced but no such luck.

Oh yes, inded Enterprise, but at a different time period. Different actress. Younger.

reply

And how do you sign up?
Asking for a friend.

reply

Start a fight in a bar.
It worked for Kirk

reply

I don't know but would be happy to be under her.
