Watching the DVD right now...

I have this concert on cassette, and lately I'd been wanting to find it on CD to rip to my iPod, but noone had it in stock anymore. I did finally find an Import copy (from Argentina, of all places) for $30 that comes in a cheap cardboard sleeve with three more cheap cardboard sleeves inside. I might have kept searching for a less expensive/better packaged release, but the thing is, this one actually came with a DVD of the concert included as the third disc. Luckily, I had a coupon for 10% off, as I was sold on buying it as soon as I realized that. But you know, it's kind of amusing that Roger Waters hated playing large venues and yet he later ended up headlining one of the largest concerts in history. It's also odd that the limo from the beginning just pulled up to drop off The Scorpions (or at least Klaus Meine was one of the guys in the limo) for the reprise of In The Flesh, but they're not credited at all for that track (instead The Bleeding Hearts Band is listed). Did they actually play the second time, or did they just fake it in front of the wall while the music was actually played behind it? The other really odd realization I've just had is that the Berlin Wall has actually been torn down for over half my life.

I actually have vinyl recordings of The Wall performed in 1980 in Los Angeles and Nassau (was at that one and the one in Berlin).

In any format, The Wall is nothing short of a masterpiece.
