Upcoming US-region 1 DVD release?

TVShowsonDVD.com has gathered info that Quick Draw McGraw will likely be receiving the boxset treatment as one of the next upcoming Hanna Barbera Collection sets, along with Wally Gator.

Good news if true!

Perhaps late '06?

Anyone have any further info?

Unfortunately, some of the Hanna Barbera sets apparently did not sell that great and this likely has stood in the way of QUICK DRAW MCGRAW and other H-B titles making it to DVD. There's also the recent scandal going where thousands of WB DVD sets the company paid to have destroyed (apparently not an uncommon way to deal with overstock) were actually then sold to discount stores reportedly the company that was paid to destroy them. Many people believe a lot of H-B titles were in that group and is why a few months ago there were many of these sets (Wacky Races, Penelope Pitstop, etc. - even the Flintstones!) being sold at the astonishing price of $3 per season at Big Lots (needless to say they flew off the shelves and a lot of hoarders and resellers grabbed them) which no doubt further hurt sales of the H-B cartoons at the regular prices and makes it even more unlikely we will get QDM, WALLY GATOR, HILLBILLY BEARS, or any of H-B series anytime soon (and of course the current recession is definately not helping.)

Interesting story, Harlow. Wish I was there when they went on sale.

Magilla did actually wind up getting a release though and even A-List animated titles I never see in stores anymore. This recession sure has killed the DVD market for TV shows unless the show you want is a current hit and on Blu-Ray, good luck finding it retail stores.

Try not to take life too seriously, no one gets out alive.

I was able to get Flintstones 1, 2,3, and 5 (the first three were apparently "used returns" as they weren't sealed but played great and of course well worth $3 each) Penelope Pitstop, Josie and the Pussycats - those were the only H-B titles I spotted in the sale other than Pebbles & Bamm Bamm (and they had so many of those I passed on it at first only to find within a few days all ten or so copies were sold when I went back) and Wait Til Your Father Gets Home (this one was $6 and didn't buy it because I didn't really like the show). The website DVDtalk used to have a thread about it (this was over two years ago) and people were "trading" titles they found extras of, I got Top Cat that way. Most of the H-B titles were found somewhere in the country at Big Lots except for The Jetsons (most Flintstones sets were used).

I agree the stores have really cut down on the tv season sets of the older shows, even Walmart which used to have a pretty good selection and now it's only a handful of sets.

Warner Archive has thankfully taken over from this. If they were problems earlier then the WA is the best bet to fix them up.

I personally don't put too much stock in that destroying sets story based on the fact several of those sets are regularly seen in stores i go too. But it does make sense they would sell them to companies to mark them down if they weren't selling. Most of the mainstream releases seem well stocked on Amazon all the time. Cutting the price is just natural happenings over time and some times rushed because of not as well selling as they would like. A bad economy and the price for a whole season on DVD just hurt the business in general.

I just find a hard time believing if these sets sold so badly they had to destroy a lot of them that either:
A. They went back and made more to always keep them in stock (why not let them go out of production if they sold so god awfully as that suggests)
B. They sold so few that even after destroying them they still had stock for many many years of supply (which i mean would mean they pressed out who knows how many originally that they could destroy a lot and not have any problems for years to come)

However according to WA, Huck has priority for the funny animal years but considering the long run of Quick Draw, he's probably near the top of the list to consider getting ready for release.

I refuse to argue on IMDB until the general populous actually uses their brains

Still waiting. Is this ever going to happen?

Since that post, they've been more clear Quick Draw's problem is very much in music rights.

It took a while (and probably the profits of some of the later series) but Warner Archive did finally get back into the 50s/60s funny animals. With Loopy De Loop last year, Atom Ant this year with Secret Squirrel also coming this year.

I wouldn't give up hope long term but let's be realistic. First they need to clear the music, then they have to work on the show itself. But Loopy De Loop was held back a while for clearance rights and they resolved those.

While for a lot of us HB fans, Quick Draw is high on our want lists, realistically a lot of the others are probably going to make it out before him.

Why Isn't The Quick Draw McGraw Show on DVD/Streaming? - Hanna-Barbera/Warner Bros. Rant

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3oZsrp61Fg

The Quick Draw McGraw Show is considered an iconic animated series from Hanna-Barbera Cartoons. But Despite this, Warner Bros. has yet to release the show on DVD or Blu-ray. They also haven't made it available to stream. This show does not deserve this type of treatment, and this rant explains why the series should be available to watch both physically and digitally.
