I'm not related, but I'm the editor of the newspaper in a town only about five miles from his Missouri gravesite (if you're one of those who believe he went to Texas and died and was buried there, I don't know what to tell you). In the '90s, when they dug up his remains and did DNA testing, I was there for the exhumation, then attended the funeral and reburial.

It's kind of off-topic, but I still thought it was pretty cool.

I see you are related to jesse James. Can you prove it to me.My friends call me Billy because I was one of the naughtest boys in school. They called me that after I was called "Outlaw" by the Head master of the school.I saw this movie "American outlaws".I like it,I love western movies.Anyone who says Western Movies suck, they seriously have no idea what type of movie it is.It's nice to watch them...I have watched them ever since i was 4 years old

Naw, that title belongs to John Wesley Hardin, who killed about 50 people before the age of 25. He also bested Wild Bill Hickok at a non-lethal draw, which was certainly no easy feat.

The most interesting thing about Jesse James, to me at least, was the murderous acts he perpetrated in the Civil War under the insane Confederate Bloody Bill Anderson (who would ride into battle foaming at the mouth, with half-a-dozen pistols all over his body. He was later ambushed by Northerners and his severed head was paraded around different towns).

The most accurate film about Jesse James would be The Long Riders...which isn't to say that it's particularly accurate...just more accurate than others.

I like pie.

Notice they say that they are related to Jesse James, but don't mention Frank James. If your related to Jesse you'd be related to Frank TOO! What you say could be true for all I know, but it would seem that you would have to mention his brother.

Oh, Yeah and I'm related to 75% of the 1500 that went down with the Titanic, and Seth Bullock, and Wild Bill, and Picos Bill, and William Bonnie(quess I'm related to THAT GUY you knew). Hell I'm related to the Queen of England, I call her Gabba and she calls Oprah. Well my favorite relative is Jesse James so Here I am telling all you fine folks. But I quess I'll just leave out Frank, I mean Whats so important about him. I mean It's not like I'm related to one and not the other, I just thought that you good wholesolm people wouldn't know anything about history. You just sit there in front of your t.v and watch reruns of Friends instead of turning to the history or Discovery channel.

Well now That I've told you everyone I'm related to, I have to go see Gabba or to you the Queen.

I am a direct decendant of the only younger brother (James) to have a child, he had one boy and his daughter was my great grandmother on my mothers side. We do have alot of proof and I think it is interesting but not everyone in my family thinks it is a good thing. They werent all bad though, just products of their culture. Jim Younger (James) used to check the hands of the men on the train before he robbed them to make sure they were not "working men" with caloused hands, if they were, he passed them up. (shows a little humanity) he also loved his family. Good or not, it is interesting. I am also a direct decendant of Rev. Pierson, first head of Yale University so I guess it evens things out a little lol.

As a resident of the south I've had to say I'm sorry to his relative's and there are many around here.

I'm happen to be related to Bob Ford the man who is said to of shot Jesse James. Shot him in the back of the head while hanging a picture it was just wrong. I APOLOGIZE. I hope we can be friends.

reply

Robert Ford's among my heroes. Have you seen The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford? Amazing, possibly one of the best westerns of all time. And there was nothing wrong about it- it was at a point where Jesse had gotten extremely paranoid and was killing off every single one of his gang members. Charlie and Bob knew, it was either them or him. (Not to mention Jesse James shot plenty a man in the back himself.)

OK so you're related to him. Are you sure? The actual James family are having a hard time proving that they're related to him. They're having a hard time with the DNA tests and one of them who is claiming to be the grandson, looks like Jesse James himself and even he gave the DNA to prove it and appearently it's taking a very long time for the DNA test to go through. That's the last I heard.

My great grand-dad used to shanghai folks on the Barbary Coast of early 20th Century Frisco. I always thought that was kind of cool, even though I guess when you get right down to it, he must have been a scumbag thug.

I'm sure most everyone is related to someone that made some footnote in history at one point in time.

I know my family traced our lineage back to some old royal families in England and Ireland. Of course, no one has posted on this message board in months, so nobody cares.

I see your point, nightblast. Yes, he did kill innocent people who got caught in the cross fire, but so did law encforcement agencies that tried tracking down the James gang. Besides, they've been dead 120 years. I think it's time to let it go...
