This movie ROCKS!!

what do u think about this movie? personally i think this movie is soo cool. the fact that Colin Farrel is in the movie helps a lot. this is the first movie i saw him in and it made me an instant fan.

reply

I enjoyed this movie, as well. Most people think this movie is only for people who have altered tastes in movies, but this is a modern western. Eye candy and nothing more.

I'm not ashamed to say I liked it, though!

I loved it, was obsessed with it for some time. I liked Colin Farrell, but I LOVED Gabriel Macht (Frank).

reply

This movie had to be THE greatest. It was classy. My dad tried to get me into Western's forever, and after I saw this, I was hooked (just on the Jesse James story, however). This movie is, in fact, the GREATEST ever.

reply

You are fools! This movie is the WORST western movie I've EVER EVER seen and it wasn't even historically correct. American Outlaws was one of the few mainstream western movies and thats why everyone is like AW ITS SO GOOD. It sucks....HORRIBLY! Go rent Young Guns or Young Guns 2. Or any old john wayne movie for that matter. Phone Booth was made like 2 years ago people but they didnt realease it until recently because the company knew that this movie SUCKED and didnt want that to scare people away from seeing phone booth. Phone booth was only released after colin farrel was in Minority Report. Seriously if you thought this movie was good, don't ever try to argue, just go rent some of the forementioned titles.

This is a great movie. I love westerns, especialy the books by Louis L'Amour. The John Wayne movies and Young Guns are stupid!!!! American Outlaws is pure entertainment. Some of it is historicaly correct. The part about the James brothers comming to Tennessee is. I should know because I live in Tennessee. American Outlaws is just a really great and funny movie that has several fine guys in it.

reply

A movie doesn't HAVE to be 100% historically correct to be good! I seriously doubts if there are ANY movies that are 100% historically correct! It's agood action packed movie, with comedy as well. It's a great movie. Just because people like it doesn't mean they're fools because YOU don't like it. I hate it when people just rag on others because they like a movie that they don't! And, in case you don't get what I'm saying, YOU are one of those people!

"Nobody tosses a dwarf! *jumps* No! Not the beard!"

reply

No, they didn't release Phonebooth because the movie is about a sniper and its original release date was around the same time as the Sniper attacks.

reply

To me it just seems like you have a problem with colin farrel. However, while you criticise all his movies, I really think you have an inability to accept the fact that times change, and that a new wave of actors, and a new type of movie is the norm now. If John Wayne made a movie today, I would scarcely think any new audience would see it. Today calls for guns, humor, guy gets girl, and for flashy, if not arrogant leading men. You have to deal with it.

reply

First of all, for the fu(ktard who was preaching about John Wayne, John Wayne was a damn fraud. John Wayne couldn't tie Clint Eastwood's jock strap.

Now. I've got kind of a funny story about this movie. My friend and I went to the movies, intending to see something else (I think it may have been Tomb Raider we were going to see), but we didn't make it in time for the showing, so we needed something else to go see. I said "Hey, how about that Outlaws movie, that one looked okay?" He agreed, so we went and saw American Outlaws. We both fell in love with the movie instantly. It's now one of my favorite movies. And all by accident. It was fate, I tell ya, given how much Tomb Raider ended up blowing ass.

reply

It's not actually a western, it's a poor, amateurish, unintentionally ridiculous attempt at making a pulpy pastiche of westerns. Fortunately, it failed miserably.

I figured that no one could have watched these movies and not thought they were the biggest load of horse *beep* ever, so I went to IMDB to see how others felt about these craptacular blockbusters. People loved them. One person on the review for American Outlaws says, “I love Westerns, blah blah blah, I’m a stupid bitch…the John Wayne movies and Young Guns are stupid!!!!” What the hell? How can you “love westerns” and leave out the genre defining movies, calling them stupid? That’s like saying you like sissy, *beep* sell-out music but you don’t like Metallica.

young guns 1 and 2 were good, i like john wayne, my dad watched westerns the whole time i was growing up, i know that american outlaws isn't historically correct but it is entertaining. i have seen long riders, and frank and jesse, which were both good, but i like american outlaws better because the main characters don't almost all die. i don't care if they did in real life, this movie was funny, it was meant to be a comedy, it wasn't really meant to be historically correct.

reply

Go rent Young Guns or Young Guns 2-from adam93084
young guns is a good movie too n i liked it when i saw it but i enjoy American Outlaws alot so don't be so one minded. i like a varity of movies from There Goes My Baby to Austin Powers n Stand By me to Varsity Blues. so just shove it

reply

I have seen those movies that you mention, and I will admit that they too are great; however, American Outlaws is good too. Its "goodness" may not be the same kind, but it does provide more than just entertainment. In addition, your attack is quite harsh, which is not necessary. You could state, reasonably, what you dislike about this movie. Instead, so broadly attack it. Whatever.

I liked this movie. I like westerns in general. Although, most westerns were made in the 50's and it sucks. It's always good to find a "recent" one. If you like this, I would recommend also "The Quick and the Dead" and "Silverado".

And let me guess, you think Britney Spears is the greatest singer ever?

Go away little girl and watch some real westerns, ones with Clint Eastwood, for example. Those are great westerns. Far better than this one.

reply

I loved the movie. It was very funny.Colin Farrell was amazing as Jesse James, but I LOVED Timothy Dalton(Allan Pinkerton).

reply

I liked this film. I'm not really into westerns, and I don't think I ever will be, but I liked this. It was funny and had action. It's just a fun film, which doesnt take alot of brains to work it out, I don't see why it was thought of as bad by critics, people I know who have seen it loved it. It's because critics like artsy films, or films which involve alot of brain power, the majority of the public however like their films to be fun.

reply

This has to be the worst Western ever...

reply

loved this movie, i'd never heard of it until a few weeks ago, when i saw the trailer on another video. it looked like a fun movie. i knew when i saw it that it wouldn't appeal to a lot of my friends who want movies to be historically accurate or they hate them. its there bad luck be cause they are missing a great movie. reading the posts and reviews here i can see my assesment was right on, people seem to either love it for what it is a fun movie that happens to be loosely based on historic characters and events, or hate it because it does not tell the whole story accurately or to there satisfaction. but why bother trying to change their opinions if they don't like it, its simply their loss. i want to see more movies like this one...

reply

I did enjoy this movie, its definately fun to watch. But the movie is an almost exact rip-off of young guns witch kinda ticks me off, but still fun to watch.

reply

i loved this film, i watched it with my friend because she liked colin farrell and then i was hooked. now i love colin farrell and have seen the film 8 times, i bought the dvd cause the tape i had was starting to ware. sad i know but i'm happy that i'm easily pleased.

reply

Oh dear, this film is the best!!!!!!!Please don't preach to me about Young Guns and John Wayne. John Wayne was Okay, some of his films were good, but he really isn't a patch on Clint Eastwood. I do like Young Guns, but I doubt it exactly follows history to the last detail. Young Guns 2 was good, but they shouldn't have made it. I thought it sucked when Doc and Chavez died. Also, Arkansas Dave Rudibah kind of put a damper on the proceedings although he was well done by Christian Slater.

The movie was okay, not the best, but it was the ending that really made it suck. It came way too quickly, like it was out of place or something. I found myself wondering if there was something wrong with the Digitcal Cable clock since the ending came so rapidly.

THIS MOVIE IS POSSIBLY THE STUPIDEST THAT THIS WORLD HAS SEEN. The only thing slightly redeeming was that Colin Farrell was in it and he is soo hot. But the whole thing blew. So there's my two cents, give me back my change.

Actually, if you want the stupidest movie ever seen, see "The Guyver." Not "Guyver 2: Dark Hero," but "The Guyver." That one sucked. This one, however, is a masterpiece. I've been into Western history for a while, and this one makes me want to learn more about Jesse James. Another thing: Who cares if it's not historically accurate? I don't! I see a movie to be entertained, not to learn history. If I want history, I'll go to school. It makes me want to learn more ABOUT the history, but it doesn't teach it. Just goes to show that people have to take things with an open mind in order to enjoy them. And the thing with Jesse charging the soldiers on a horse with a Gatling Gun firing at him? That was flat out awesome! You have to remember, guns aren't accurate 100% of the time. Besides, a horse moves faster than the people controlling that gun. It's totally believeable and created one hell of a diversion! I wish I knew how to ride a horse. It would be awesome!

And for all of you guys downing John Wayne, don't. He just made movies as good as they could be made at the time. I thought they were pretty good myself. Give the guy a shot, will ya?

People,THIS MOVIE BLOWS.It makes "Gods and Generals" look like "Citizen Cane".People say that "it's just a movie".So does that mean I should be able to give him an AK-47,modern camo and say it's a time warp or something?
This movie followed NO historiclly correct lines.Jesse charging a Gatlin Gun,he would have be mowed down.Gatlin Guns didn't need to be accurate because they put out alot of lead. The GG had a little devise on the underneat of the gun that would allow it to spray bullets.Jesse charging the Fed. line,PLEASE.All one soldier would have to do is shoot the horse and Jesse goes down.As a gurrilla,Frank would not have carried the Henry Rifle for the matter of lack of ammo. The CSA could not produce the brass rounds for Henry Rifles, and he would not have come in contact with Federals to get ammo.
When Jesse got shot in the arm,he WOULD BE IN PAIN!HE could not have been able to headbut Pinkerton. When they are robbing the first bank and the Native told the old man what they are doing, the old man would have told him to get lost because of him being Native American.Zee would have had her hair up,not in pig tails, not down. She's a country girl, not a beliveable one,but a country girl, but she would still try to look like a Victorian lady. When they are in the bar,the guy would have taken the hooker right there in the bar,not taking her up stairs. When the houses are being blown up,the men would have worn vest, cravets(ties),and jackets.Going aroumd in your suspenders would be like walking around naked today.Zee and Jesse would not have kissed in public, because in the 1860's that was to risky. That would be like making love in a concert hall today.Colin Ferral looks NOTHING like the real Jesse James, who is still much tougher than Ferral. Here's a like to see the real Jesse James in 1864: http://www.islandnet.com/~the-gang/jesse2.jpg
Notice no beard,no ruggedness. He looks like a young woman. In fact, here's the link to see all of Jesse's pictures: http://www.islandnet.com/~the-gang/jessepic.htm.Note how Colin Ferral looks nothing Jesse.
And the big thing was THEY WERE NOT ROBIN HOODS,stealing from the rich giving to the poor.THEY WERE HOODS-A-ROBIN,stealing from the rich giving to themsleves.
Folks,I can go on and on,but most of you are more then likly to simple minded to understand. This was a crappy movie. Not even the clothing looks correct. If you want to know why I know this,I'm an American history major.
Watch "XXX" for explosions, but don't make the true Jesse,Frank James and the Youngers turn in their graves.

OK, listen here pal. I don't care whether you know every single scrap of history in existence or not. The point is IT IS A MOVIE!!!!! It doesn't matter! Some people make movies to entertain while others make moves to educate. This was a movie to ENTERTAIN. It doesn't have to be accurate. Just as long as it entertains, it's OK. Besides, Jesse COULD outrun a Gatlin Gun because a horse moves faster than the people controling the gun. THINK! You need to seriously lighten up! I don't care what Jesse James actually looks like or how people acted or what they wore. I just care about how well the movie was made. And have you though for even a second that the director wasn't going for accuracy? you need to think about these kind of things before judging so harshly. If you want to be educated by a movie, go to a sex ed class. Otherwise, take the movie for what it is, not what you think it should be.

Listin moron.I AM A HISTORIAN.I look at history for accuracy.I bet you thought Gods and Genrals was a good movie.Remeber, just because it has explosions in it doens't make it a good. This movie was a pice of crap a dog pushed out on the carpet. And no,one shot from a .58 Cal. Musket would put that horse down.Let's see Jesse out run it now.If you want an action movie, watch Die Hard. That's actually good.Don't make Jesse roll in his grave.

reply

Guess what? I'm a 19-year-old kid going for a degree in Theatre, so watch who you're calling a moron. And yes, I liked God and Generals not because of the explosions, but because of how everyone played their characters. It's the same as with this movie. It's based in the file for "Entertainment," not "Boring History Lesson" (no offense, because I'm fascinated by history). It doesn't matter if it's historically accurate or not. It matters if it entertains the people who watch it or not. Besides, nowhere in the credits did I ever see an underscore saying "Based on Actual Events." I know enough history to know this isn't true. Same with Gods and Generals, even though it's closer to what happened. Also, since I'm going for a career in acting, I know people will one day look at my work and criticise it for not being a great performance or something like that. However, I will know it doesn't matter if it's based on actual events or not. What will matter is that people who watch it are entertained by it. I will know most of them didn't come for a history lesson (although in your case, I'll be very wary). I won't even care. I'll just care about them liking what they saw because of how I did my job. I'm not trying to argue with because you are more than likely my elder and I respect historians greatly for trying to teach young people like me what happened years before we were even born, and I've become a big fan of history because of people like you. I'm just trying to get you to see another side to the argument. Don't look at it for historical reference because frankly (and no offense is intended) people just don't care. Just look at it as a movie to either be entertained by or bored to sleep by. That's all.

WRONG IDIOT.I know G&G was "closer to what happened".I know because I'M A HISTORY MAJOR.They did not cover Jackson's Valley Campaign.Lee was given command in 62,not 61.The characters were not true to who they were.Chamberlian was not so poetic, they were jokes. The costumes for G&G were wrong.I know becasue I had a friend work on that movie. He had an authentic VA militia uniform, the costume department handed him a pair of blue jeans to wear. No,not jean cloth, but deminem.
To be honest,I am trianed to look at a movie for historical accuracy because I have researched clothing of the period,as well as customs of the Victorian Age.
And authentisity means alot to me.

reply

You keep repeating "I'M A HISTORY MAJOR" and calling the other poster "idiot" and "moron". I seriously question your education status, and here's why:

a) the grammar and spelling displayed in your posts is horrible. I'm no spelling nazi, but how in the HELL did you graduate high school---let alone get into a reputable college?

b) MAJORING in history does not make you an authority on historical authenticity. You have yet to master the usage of a thesaurus.

c) I'm a criminology major, in my senior year of college. That doesn't make me an expert on crime, I just happen to know a little more about the subject than those who are not interested by it. I have a lot of dues to pay before I can even hope to be an expert in my chosen field of study. Learning does not stop once the degree is hung on the wall.

My guess? You're a socially inept person, who spews nonsense and insults through a keyboard because you don't have the testicular fortitude to command the respect of your peers face-to-face.

My advice? Get your lazy ass off of the computer, and pick up a book. Try to aim for one with chapters in it. Learn to spell, space, and punctuate properly. Maybe, just MAYBE....someone will then take you seriously.

Most importantly---arrogance is not conducive to demonstrating knowledge or skill. Your attitude will always manage to deflect attention from every other quality you possess, and will determine how you are perceived by your audience.
