Hey, Tom

Rent the movie and enjoy it again -- DerrickAV gave you an erroneous
and very inadequate response. It has a great, funny and satisfying ending.

Page and Ryan fall into each others' arms, Cyndy returns, and there is
a fast-paced turning-of-the-tables on Donald Simpson, as he 'steals' Cyndy.

Ryan, recognizing that Simpson's stock is going to spike on news
of Cyndy's switch (she's now so famous), and then plummet when she opens her mouth at a scheduled press conference, borrows money from his friend, Barry
(who gives him $50,000 of Cathy's money) and gets $150,000 from Page's secretary, Iris. She has the money in 'one of her accounts'. Page points out that she's 'a great housekeeper' -- and Iris chimes in, "I had three divorces, and kept all the houses!"
The point is to buy a ton of Simpson stock, watch it balloon and then sell just before Cyndy opens her mouth at the press conference, and it works perfectly.
They come out with a 1.5 million profit, which saves the paper,
and sets up the 'quick and happy ending'.

Months do NOT pass before Ryan's proposal -- why would they?

They made a lot more than 1.5 mil! That was for the first buy! When he sold everything short then he truly made a fortune!
Really good movie! Rent it!

When you're right, you're right, my friend!!
I've seen it about 3 dozen times, but it never occurred to me that they waited.
Now that I see they did, it seems right.
