Think Firefly musical directed by John Waters, using Flash Gordon props

Except that Firefly/Serenity and John Waters' movies have a lot more women involved, and Joss Whedon has a lot more money to play with. The American Astronaut is quirky like many of Waters' movies.

lol... agreed. my first thought was: film noir and the firefly 'verse gang up, get hitched by frank miller, and complete the outfit with some psychobilly music for a good helping of style.
( is it just me, or are some frames oozing edward hopper? )

Seriously, the movie defies categorisation. You either love it, or hate it. I love it.

Yeah, I was thinking Eraserhead meets Rocky Horror meets... something set in space. Not Firefly, because that was just trite, although I guess they both take the Space Western approach.
