Why does this movie forum have so little traffic?

It's a fantastic film!

very strange indeed. I figure because even as a cult movie it's kind of obscure. Also the movie is so straight forward there is really little to discuss.

Here here. Great movie. I don't frequent these IMDB boards that much...I suppose not many people know about this gem. Go out into the world and spread it's praises, that'll bring some folks around!

I think it really just isn't well-known enough. I just showed it to two friends who are fairly film-savvy (both loved it); neither had even heard of it before.

reply

Well. I'm glad atleast some people have heard of it. Though, does it even have a cult-following? Or nothing...just a few enthusiasts who have seen the movie?

( By the way, I don't live in America, and I just randomly picked this movie from the dvd shelve, because of its cool cover haha. Boy, was I in for a good surprise ; ) )

I love American Astronaut. I saw it for the first time last year and have seen it at least a dozen more since. I think American Astronaut has a cult following and is better known in bigger cities. I live in Louisville, KY and not many small films get a chance here. If you do a google search you'll find scores of people who love it though.

Like the rest of you I do what I can to spread the word. If you don't have it yet check out the sound track. Amazing.

Also, if you're in the Louisville area The Billy Nayer Show (from American Astronaut) will be performing at Last Call Film Fest. The link is below.

I bought this movie around the time it was released on DVD. I had never read or heard anything prior to picking up the DVD case and giving it a look-see. It was a pure blind-buy on my part and I was pleasantly surprised (and relieved) that the film turned out to be so enjoyable. I love the sheer creativity that runs through the movie. The songs by the Bill Nayer Show are also a definite highlight. It's a bit shocking to discover the film was released sometime in '91 but didn't debut on DVD till four years later!

Long live the Rio Yeti!

I do wish this film got more exposure. It is one of the most original and intriguing films that I have seen in a while. Sad thing is most people probably wouldn't get it and would think that it's too weird.

Little to discuss? What film were you watching? This thing was rife with pretentious metaphor, ala David Lynch.

Who you calling pretentious, birthday boy?
