for telling the truth in this incredible film. for being willing to be unpleasant in the portrayal of this character. for doing something that was powerful and that makes people think. for not shying away from the brutatlity of end stage cancer or death. for bringing such a powerful performance to the screen that it is life changing. for telling this story.

I took care of my father when he was dying of non-hodgkins lymphoma in 2001-2002.

THen I was diagnosed with cancer July 13th 2004.

I am so thankful for Emma's Thompson's amazing work in this film.

There was some netflix review which suggested cancer patients whould not watch this film, and I was a little taken-aback. My mother died of a rare form of bone cancer in 2000, she was an English teacher, poet, writer, philosopher. She would have loved this film. Just because movies are sad doesn't mean they should be avoided, just as in life.

I'm so sorry for both of you and your parent's experiences with this awful disease.

Sydney Pollack comes to mind too .He was someone I would have loved to have had the opportunity to meet and to see that he suffered and then passed away from stomach cancer is sad and unthinkable :(

To the OP , I sincerely hope you have beaten this dragon .
