Very poor directing - needless quirky filming
It's like the director was taking a film making class, and the instructor said 'Okay, I want everyone to put in a bunch of quirky stuff, like show the actors but as they're talking, don't show they're talking, and throw in colorful frames for the heck of it'
Way too often I was distracted from the movie/plot because the director had (based on what was shared during director commentary) seen something someone else did in a movie, and she wanted to try it.
It didn't seem to matter to her that it didn't necessarily fit the scene.
Not all that great a plot to start with.
Disappointing experience.
