The Oregon Sheriff Mispronounces “Oregon”

The Oregon Sheriff said:
Are you boys aware of the state of Oregon laws pertaining to driving under the influence of intoxicants?
(Or something like that).

He plainly mispronounced "Oregon" like many non-Oregonians do -- "ORYGONE".
Oregonians say... "ORYGUN"

This is absolutely correct, and I noticed the same thing while watching that
scene. Also, having allegedly being set in Oregon, it didn't look much like the
Oregon I know. Thank You for bringing this to light, Eric.

That's 'cause it was shot in New Zealand. Which would explain the sign I just saw that said "Car Park". I've never seen a sign in this country (granted, the states I've visited have been mostly east of the Mississippi as well as Illinois and Utah, but still, it's not an American phrase) that said that.

FWIW, I grew up in the Bronx, NY and Rumble in the Bronx didn't look like any part of the Bronx I ever saw. Probably a combination of it having been shot in Vancouver and the filmmakers never having been to the Bronx.

Ya gotta take movie locations with a pile of salt.

reply

I'm from Europe and even I say "ORYGUN"

reply

A lot of movies, news, and any other media always gets it wrong. Annoying!

reply

Are you sure that it isn't the people who live in Oregon who are getting it wrong?? The state isn't exactly known for its "intelligent population."

reply

You have clearly demonstrated your superior intellect and knowledge; sadly we cannot match your level.
