Questions: PLEASE HELP (spoilers)

First:

If the 7th Heaven guy, Barry Watson, was innocent, what was the whole deal with the schizophrenia pills? Is that just to deceive the audience? B/c either way, that's quite an extreme illness to give him.

Second:

Why did the doctor Eric say the wound on Barry Watson was "self-inflicted?"

Third:

What's the stuff in the trunk? What's with all those electronics?

Good movie but too many holes, too much left unexplained.

I would say the answer to the firs and second questions is "to decieve the audience", as you said.
I'm also curious about the electronics. The logical explanation would be it was already in the trunc when the dude stole the car (and it lookes he stole it running from the guys, like the girl does later - also he does not look like surfer).

i think that he had the disease to decieve the audience. however i thought the whole stab wound being self inflicted thing was also to throw us off, but because taht's how peter wanted it. the way he stabbed was so that if his victim went to tell on him they would look incredulous.

1. Haloperidol is used as an anti-psychotic, and in treatment of personality disorders. Also - psychosis is defined as, among other things, "..involving a loss of contact with reality.." (sources: Wikipedia, WWW )

I do not agree with you or the other two posters above me who said this was included to "deceive the audience". In the context of the movie, with Mr. Barrett allegedly being a "secret agent"/undercover agent, it makes sense to me (as a lay-person) that he may have been experiencing a "loss of contact with reality". I cannot comment on whether this would be an appropriate/effective prescription, because I'm not a psychiatrist.

2. I do not remember clearly, but I believe that Eric the Doctor said he was increasingly of the opinion that the wound was self-inflicted, and that he did not definitively say it was self-inflicted.

3. To me, the stuff in the trunk looked like recording equipment, further reinforcing the notion that Barrett was a "secret agent"/undercover agent.

I thought the equipment in the boot was media transfer equipment...to transfer VHS tape to a DVD....so I'd assumed that it meant he had transferred something from VHS on to that disc they chasing
