I love French comedies, and this movie and The Dinner Game (Le Diner de Cons) are two of my favorites. And I realized, the main character in Le Placard has the same name as the "idiot" in The Dinner Game--Francois Pignon!

That's because in almost all the Francis Veber movies there is a François Pignon :-)
That's generally the funniest/dumb/awkward/coward/etc character...
Le jaguar, la chèvre, les fugitifs, les compères etc ... there is always a François Pignon in it.

I just saw La Chèvre and Les Compères, and you're totally right! I never realized all those movies were by the same director.

And how can you not love a movie with this incredible cast?? Thierry L'hermitte! Mmmmmmmmm!!! Between "Les Ripoux" and "Le Diner de Cons" It's also amazing how consistently great Daniel Auteuil is. This film is a treat from beginning to end.
