Sounds a Bit Like 'Loch Ness'

I haven't seen this yet, but the plot sounds a bit like that of a movie called "Loch Ness", with Ted Danson and Joely Richardson. I really enjoyed that one -- a sweet, but not syrupy, story, and it had a great Scottish flavor. I hope this movie will be similar in tone and atmosphere.

It's not.... MAGIC IN THE WATER... but with CGI, and a watered down story.

For the record, this is based on the Ogopogo, who's Nessie's Canadian cousin. Not based on Nessie herself.

It's based on the Ogopogo from B.C. I was a little dissapointed about them not naming it the Ogopogo but a group of Natives who have absolutly no connection with the story complained that Ogopogo was a sacred name. It's not the native name the native name for the creature is Khnitak or something like that it means water demon. Ogo pogo was a joke a name that stuck it has something to do with england so they really didn't need to change the name. Anyway just for the record the Ogo pogo legend has been going on as long if not longer then lock ness it was a native legend passed down for centuries.

The first written report of Nessie was in 565AD. I would think that's a little before Naitaka (Ogopogo is a made-up palindrome) although the local people probably didn't have a written language then.

Naitaka, or N'ha-aitk, means 'sacred creature of the water', by the way.

I've been reading about Ogopogo. Been to British Columbia before, even got a little stuffed animal of it when I was a kid. Little green snake thing with it's tongue sticking out.

The creature has been featured on shows like In Search Of... with Leonard Nimoy and Unsolved Mysteries.

Whatever you do don't let it get near water. Little bugger will grow faster than you can keep up with it. :)

Yes this is basically the same movie as Loch Ness, give or take a detail or two.
