2012 performance by Hurt in Los Angeles area

Last night it was my great honor to see John Hurt perform this play live at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City, CA. He brings the full potential of this character (and the play) to life. This was only my second Samuel Beckett play, and much more approachable than Waiting for Godot. The tape used in his current performance are recordings he made in 1999, when he first performed the role in Dublin, followed by performances in London's West End, then the version listed here. He had also had a nasty fall recently and injured his ankle, requiring him to walk for now with a cane. He made good use of this injury and the cane in the current performance.
