I whole hartedly agree. The movie was unbelieveable and put a terrible slant on the Turkish Empire. Not a movie I would ever buy or watch again.

The movie was pretty lame and confusing.

But frankly i am surprised at your lack of knowledge of everything this "great " ottoman empire did in the 19th and 20 century. how oculd you even begin to want to see something showing their greatness. What greatness. killing 1.5Million armenians, several hundred thousand Kurds, greeks, macedonians, romanians is sign of greatness?i would recommend you do some research before you yak away on the keyboard.

I woke up in the middle of the night and caught this movie on...I thought I was having a nightmare. This is was ONE AWEFUL MOVIE.

I thought oh my goodness...I was disappointed because I'm a HUGE fan of Adrian Lester's who I think is an incredible actor, and he gave a pretty decent performance but this movie bomb for me bigtime.

first you all must understand the story of the movie, you must read about the truth of macedonia in past time and then you will understand that THIS MOVIE IS A REAL GREAT MOVIE, that shows how the ottomans were real...and the macedonian tragedy in that time !!!! first notice the facts and than judge about this !!!!
the american cowboys in macedonia and the macedonian-grandmother who told the story to the american black guy are SYMBOLS who tell you (america,EU,....the west) the real TRUTH about the east (macedonia) in that time and in present.

This film needed severe editing. It was way too long and confusing. I thought the basic story was interesting, but there was too much clutter. Most of the modern city stuff could have been left out.

Its confusing for you because it is not meant for the general ... errr.. dumb, American public which all they want to see in a movie is shoot em all up and save the world type- hollywood movies. This is one of the greatest independent and foreign films of all time. The realistic rating is a 8.5 out of 10. Truly some shocking and powerfull scenes in the movie.

I have bought it too because of David Wenham. But I was dissapointed: the movie was very confusing. The modern city stuff was a crap. The Macedonian stuff was too violent. Luke's character was not understandable.

Hmm.. I thought it was a pretty good movie, but I do agree it was WAY too long. I think it was a really good idea that just got too muddled. Most people outside of Europe really don't know/care much about Macedonia, so it's harder for them to grasp. I think it also had way to many elements, I mean, an old woman and her black criminal 'son', two cowboy brothers fighting over a woman, endless violence in Macedonia, I mean that could be three whole movies right there. If they had done three whole movies, they might now have failed in the things they did. But...hey whatever. Maybe someone can get this movie right someday.

i was really into Edge's story, but felt absolutely nothing for the two brothers - and their story is what i rented the movie for in the first place. the two stories separately would be two great movies. i didn't get enough of the brothers. of course the dvd case said NOTHING about Edge and the old lady.

i was left just kind of "blah" at the end, but i can see why people love this movie so much. just not me. sucks because i really wanted to see Feinnes and Wenham in a good western. i love those two.

I don't know about it being one of the worst films ever, but it is pretty bad. And I don't need to know any Macedonian history to determine that this is a piece of crap. You can call it an art house film or anything you want, but that doesn't remove the stench.
