An almost perfect movie.

This is one of those movies where everything comes together. The script. The actors. The characters. The music. The snow.

All those things blend together to make a stupendous movie. I've seen this movie several times. Can't imagine I'll ever get tired of it. Consider that Zellwegger is a Texas, and yet, it's hard to imagine she wasn't born and raised in England. Hugh Grant, who hadn't known her before, said it was quite a shock at the wrap part after the movie when she started speaking with her real accent. She had used the English accent not just in the movie, but on the set the entire time. So he had no idea how she really sounded.

This may be primarily a woman's movie. It strikes me that the Firth and Grant characters are straight out of a romantic novel: Tall, extremely handsome, smart and successful, sexy, but with flaws. Her: Chunky (compared to the waif look we all idolize these days), hair a bit scraggly, does and says inappropriate things.

Important in the movie are also her gang of friends. I loved them, and they play a major role in rounding out the characters. I loved the parents, too. That rounded out the subplots.

A great holiday movie! (Also check out "The Holiday" with Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet).

Please don't compare the great Bridget Jones Diary to the garbage The Holiday.

Even though she got an Oscar nomination, I think Renee's performance in the film is quite underrated. She has probably the most perfect comic timing ever seen by a film actress in this movie.

One of the best romantic comedies ever made as it had romance and actual comedy
It's laugh out loud funny
The IMDb rating is ridiculously low

having read the book and the watched the film, i found the film generally disappointing. The book is much funnier.

It was downright terrible. Bad and boring acting, it's not romantic and so on.
