I will have to sit this one out, long story short, I made it back but my disk one is sitting in a DVD player about 8000 klicks south of my home base.

I'll be back next week with disk 2 ep. 1.

Sorry 'bout that, and enjoy the small reprieve till next week, when I'll be back and as long winded as usual!

I'm sure someone will find the disk and enjoy the Lone Gunmen.

No problem....looks like our little group has taken a hit and some of the followers have gone on vacation. Unfortunate since this is one of the better shows we've done. Look forward to getting you back I do enjoy your reviews even though I can't offer anything close to your commentary....See ya next week.

This series is really not that bad. Almost wished I had watched it when it came on years ago.

Sorry ... I've been busy and am a few weeks behind on episodes. I'll try to catch up this week.

I really liked the newsreel opening, even if it was obvious that it was the Frohike actor just dressed like a Nazi.

Which brings up the parentage issue: Was the Stazi agent supposed to have been the son of the Nazi who looked like Frohike? That would seem unlikely given his appearance. So was Mrs. Haag's son supposed to be the real son of the Frohike Nazi? Was she a secret collaborator, too?

Then there's the birthmark. Do those really run in families like that, or is it just a convenient plot point the writers can use?

It's always great to see Alan Dale in anything. Of course, he's now better known to American audiences as Charles Widmore on "Lost," but he's been around for a long time.

Jimmy Bond's role is obvious: He's the dope that you need to explain everything to in the simplest possible terms - a surrogate for the viewers who need things explained to them. I think they lay on the dumb thing a little too thick, though.

Not so sure about the use of the disguise makeup at the end. Yes, it looked cool, but that kind of convincing makeup job would take hours and hours under ideal conditions, not the short time they had in the back of a van.

It was enjoyable enough, if a bit implausible and confusing.

Lone Gunmen

Again this week another decent offering. I didn't really no what to expect with this series I thought they would be a little more serious. The dark comedy is why I keep enjoying the episodes. As always I don't figure out what's happening until they explain it to me. I should of guessed it was the next door neighbor. The comment about the moon was my favorite part. One thing I notices is the Three Stooges get into trouble with Jimmy's help and then Eve comes to the rescue and saves the day. Did I forget to mention she always gets money albeit it was only a million dollars this week. Going to give this one a six on the LG scale.

Another good episode. I find myself really liking this show. So far all the series we have watched I have always been able to say...well I liked the show but I certainly can see why it went only one season, the exception being Night Gallery to which I say why didn't it only go one season, but with this show as of right now I don't know why it didn't go longer.
It is becoming clear that EVE is the sexy gunmen savior coming along at just the right time to pull the fat out of the fire as WLCEBTG has mentioned. I'm not sure how the Jimmy Bond character is going to work out, not sure his character is necessary. The formula over the first 3 shows has been very similar....Guys get knock at the door, guys open door, guys get case, guys get in over their head, girl saves guys gets money. This is going to have to change but so far hasn't annoyed me yet.
The comedy in the show is quiet funny and while I figured out the neighbor was actually the woman they wanted, I enjoyed watching while the fellows arrived at this conclusion. I thought the funniest part was when the neighbor knocked on the door and asked if he had a girl in there, saw Langly and said...you do have girl in here....pretty funny.
All in all a good episode I give it a 6 on the TLG scale.

The series appears to lift many of the same attributes of the x-files when it comes to scene lighting, camera angles, etc. Probably many of the same director/producers?
Anyway, I am still holding out on a thumbs up/thumbs down for this series.
I enjoyed the news reel black and white footage and how they added the new with the old. I thought it was well done.
Frohike in the traditional german garb was pretty funny as well as all of the jokes about the birthmark on the butts.
I didn't quite understand who Wilhelm was 'torturing and killing'. Yves tells us that it was 'defectors' but I don't quite understand who. It would have had to be in the 70's.
There were also some misleading things. Haag says that she made the pastry for Frohike but it was identical to the one in the old news reel. She also seems to recognize Frohike as her son but he was setup to look like the neighbors son.
I'll give it a 6. I agree with charmedwon666 that the 'modus operandi' of the series and the overall theme needs some change. It's getting pretty repeatable and predictable. The x-files always had the twists in the storylines that made it interesting.

You bring up good points about the lighting and angles, The show on a presentation level is exactly like the X-files, which actually worried me a little going into watching this series because I was afraid it was going to be a disappointing xfiles want to be. So far i haven't found this to be so. The bumbling around by the guys is actually what I find so funny about the whole thing.
As far as the torturing and killing thing I was a little confused on this as well. I think she was a hard core Nazi killing the french underground people who members of the resistance. The pastry thing was not well thought out. I couldn't make up my mind if the pastry was poisoned or if the maid just died of a heart attack. If it was poisoned then the neighbor must of made it to Kill Frohike meaning she was already in contact with her son and knew he must be killed. I don't know as I said it confused me as well. The other thing that was a little confusing was the hotel room scene, who was he talking to on the phone? His Mother?
