One of my favorite End Time movies

I have really enjoyed this show. I wore out a copy on VHS. I liked the way that Pete organized all of them to each do a different job. It kept them able to live off of the land. That was pretty awesome.

One of my other favorite movies, "Testament" also has the actor,Gary Bayer, in it too!

I saw the movie a year or so after it was first made. Loved it then, love it now on VHS. I think it's one of the best end times movies.. surly a classic.

My Husband and I both love this movie and agree with ricklomax's remarks, it is one of the best end times movies. I think it gives a more realistic picture of what life will be like after the Rapture and what people who come to Christ during the tribulation will have to endure, too many end time movies make it all seem like a bold adventure and the characters hero's;I think this movie comes closer to what the reality will be.

Glad to know this film has some following. I have liked this film much better than the more recent 'end time' films. Since the Bible says people are being beheaded for their belief I can only imagine how horrible it will be.

Movies like this sure make you think.

Another film that is more realistic,if a little hokey for the seventies presentation, is the Thief in the Night series. If memory serves correct there are four movies in the set, put out by Mustardseed Ministries.
They present a close representation of end times events Biblically, including the beheading of the tribulation saints, not that this is something I love to see in a movie, lol, but unfortunately it's the truth and far too many end times movies make it seem like persecution of the Christians is going to be some kind of bold, daring adventure, something almost to be desired;which I am certain it will not be.
Unfortunately in an attempt to reach as many as possible even a lot of Christian filmmakers try to be like Hollywood by giving the audience thrills and chills and a hero or heroine or two and they get so caught up in entertainment that they forget the main objective of their message: warning people and saving souls, after all, isn't that what we as believer's are called to do?
The problem with a lot of these movies is they stray from scripture way too much, and glorify the people involved and not the Lord, He becomes secondary to the heroic central figure and that's wrong, at least from a Biblical standpoint.
Sorry to go on a rant but it's encouraging to see others that appreciate movies that make you think and not just movies that make your pulse quicken and give you the false illusion that if you happen to be left behind,it's ok, you can go through all kinds of horrors heroically and with all kinds of buddies to help you.
I don't mean to sound pessimistic but that's not what I read in the Bible, the Tribulation period is literally going to be hell on Earth and who in their right mind would make that seem like one adventure after another?
Sorry to sound critical of these films and their producers, I know they are doing the best they can probably but it is important that these things are shown in a more realistic light so that hopefully more people will wake up before it's too late.
Ok, anymore and I will have to copyright this as a novel, lol.

I agree with your rant.

I have seen all of the end time movies anyone ever recommended. I was raised believing I was living through the "end times". I don't believe in a rapture as depicted in these movies.

Here's a thought to ponder: Jesus was our perfect example. When He was "taken Up" in the clouds His followers stood there and watched Also, when Elijah went to heaven in "chariots of fire" he could be seen.

THERE is a horrible misrepresentation of the scripture, "changed in the twinklin' of an eye" YES, we'll be changed to our perfected bodies but who says we're actually going to disappear? The folded clothes is the stupidest if not the most sadly funny thing about these films.

I think the most accurate description of the end times is in the Bible alone and no movie even comes close to depicting even 1/1000th of what is written about in Daniel and Revelation.

Well said Steinbeck11,

Since I posted back in April or May I have actually come down off the fence I was on about the pre-trib rapture, the more I read my Bible and the more I pray and do research on the subject, there really is no justification for the pre-trib belief, outside the theory of someone in the 1800's that got the whole movement started.
You said it so well, instead of filling their heads with these movies, people should fill their heads with the Bible, that's where we find God's truth, not in a movie.
My husband and I still tend to watch so-called Christian films, but not as often, I prefer old films like Harvey or old fashioned series like Anne of Green Gables.
Personally I find Christian films to be so far removed from the Truth that they can be harmful, and non-believers just look at them and figure all Christians are wackos.

I'm glad you're continuing to search out the truth.

Just because we are justified by FAITH doesn't mean we check our questions and brains at the door.

Christians need to focus more on discernment and developing the ability to reason with knowledge and understanding. Discernment in the Christian community is becoming as rare as common sense is everywhere.

I like the Sarah, Plain and Tall series. A lot of the Hallmark movies are decent, entertaining and won't corrupt you.

You deserve whatever you willingly tolerate.

Hi,my daughter and I after a 4hour Bible study and online looking up everything we could find on when the Last Trump sounds for one thing, also came to the conclusion that Pre-Trib is totally unscriptural, plus learning about how and when that belief started being preached in the 1830's. We now believe Mid-Trib/Pre-Wrath.

No where in the Bible does it say Jesus secretly returns to earth,in fact it says the exact opposite! The problem is too many don't even carry their sword to church to check what that preacher in the pulpit is telling them, nor do enough read the Word at home.

Paul wrote, "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air...For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night...But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief" (1 Thess. 4:16-17, 5:2-4).

Jesus will rapture the saints with the sound of a trump. Which trump? Paul wrote, "Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed" (1 Cor. 15:51-52).

When is the last trump? According to the Revelation there are seven trumpets during the Great Tribulation. The seventh and last trumpet recorded in Scripture is sounded on the last day of the tribulation: "And the seventh angel sounded [the seventh and last trumpet]; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ, and he shall reign for ever and ever...And the nations were angry, and thy wrath [from which the saints were delivered] is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints..." (Rev. 11:15-18).

Beloved, let no man deceive you. The saints will go through the tribulation depicted in the Revelation. The Antichrist will be given power "to make war with the saints, and to overcome them" (Rev. 13:7). The prophet Daniel wrote concerning the Antichrist, "He will speak against the Most High and oppress His saints...The saints will be handed over to him [the Antichrist] for [three and a half years]...He [the Antichrist] will destroy the mighty men and the holy people" (Dan. 7:25, 8:24). Christians who are compromisers before the Great Tribulation are not going to be overcomers through it.

Matt 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

Matt 24:27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Matt 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
Matt 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
Matt 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Matt 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

And especially this verse...2Thess. 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for [that day shall not come], except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

BTW many preachers like to preach that the great falling away is people not attending church, but I don't believe that. I have read and believe that it means all these lying false preachers not preaching God's Word in the spirit and in truth, not preaching the true gospel of Christ and him crucified.

Just something to study on and God Bless. Also I love your choice of films, which I also love. My all time favorite film is Friendly Persuasion with Gary cooper and Dorothy McGuire as a Quaker husband and wife.
