Eric: So I said to myself, 'Kyle,'...

Is that quote from Boy meets world.

And I am sorry, you may have enjoyed the book and I am glad. Everyone is different, maybe you really did enjoy the books more. As for me, the two scenes (when they are having sex and the song Rest of my life was playing and the dance when that song What have you done today) were the highest form of art on earth to me.

I used to read as a child compulsively but once I personally connected with a couple of films, mainly their ability to invoke a reaction through music, I stopped reading. Sure i'll read for information, but for entertainment, literature is an extremely watered down version of film. So this movie is a perfect example; no way would I have this strong reaction without having seen this story with real people and real good music.

I don't no how coherent this is and, to you, I might be completely off base; for me, the book could have had a better story and more development, but without the "cheesy" music this story would not be worth my time.

While I agree that the movie was good and the music helped that, I do not agree that books are watered down versions of films. In fact, every book that I have ever read that was made into a movie paled in comparison to the book.
Movies are good, but I think most books should not be made into movies unless the story is left intact.
