ARE YOU PEOPLE CRAZY!?!?!?!

This show was a horrible imitation of what WAS a great cartoon based on a comic. Sure it had it's good moments but it was a twisted, nasty mockery of the original. It was never meant to be a primetime comedy because it's too weird. It needs to remain in the comics and in our memories of when getting early to watch cartoons was worth it. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, Toon Disney still plays back the old episodes at 10 pm central time. Watch those and you'll see what I mean.

This show in my opinion was much smarter and better crafted than the cartoon ever was. Not to mention Bill Edlund (creator of the character) was a writer on every episode and had a lot more to do with the creative process, which explains why it was so damned funny. Not to mention Patrick was perfect for the role of the Tick. As was the rest of the cast for their parts respectively.

Meh, I didn't like this show at all. I just didn't appreciate the incredibly dry wit and humor of it, I just couldn't find a majority of an episode funny, maybe a couple gagas at most. I loved the cartoon series though, my favorite episode probably being when The Tick was trapped in The World's Most Comfortable Chair, meanwhile I believe Arthur, American Maid, and Die Fliedermouse (sp?) were busy shopping in the department store. Good stuff all around.

And before anyone tries to insult my intellignece, I've enjoyed other great shows like Clerks: The Animated Series, Futurama, Home Movies, Freaks & Geeks, Undeclared, The Simpsons (the old ones, at least), Family Guy, MST3K, Kids in the Hall, and so on. So yeah, I like some obscure shows, but this one just wasn't very good in my opinion.

Considering how expensive the live-action version is, it probably would've been cheaper to release more cartoons.

The thing about the cartoon is that it was a cartoon. As much as Edlund had a hand in the writing, it was still watered in order to appeal to a wider audience. The live action show was created to tailor to a specific type of person or type of humor, and for those lucky few for whom it just clicks with, it is downright hilarious

I still think after all these years (and as a Tick fan since Elementary school) that it's one of the best shows I have ever seen

My friend found the Live Action one funnier. It's up and down to compare it. Why do you even care? We like it, so what? We have our opinion, and you have yours.

LOved the cartoon, found the live show very disappointing. I find it almost amazing that no one has mentioned the fact, that except for the first episode, the Tick DOESNT FIGHT ANYBODY. I saw almost every episode, and can distinctly recall most of the footage being around Captain Liberty, and all of them spending an inordinate amount of time either standing around talking, or sitting at the cafe talking.
I can distinctly recall the Tick actually making physical contact with foes, and , uh.....like, FIGHTING them and stuff in the cartoon. What happened to that simple idea? People wonder why this show was quickly cancelled, and that is one big reason why. In fact, when action does occur, like in one scene where Captain Liberty is about to take out two toughs, all we see is her smirk one moment, and the toughs come flying out through the door (alone, her not even in the shot) the next. A real special effects extravaganza?
Live show, rest in peace, and stay there. Give me seasons two and three of the cartoon, unless someone in the future decides to actually wisen up and put some effort into a live show.

I really enjoy the show (both of them). Somehow I had never noticed the Tick does no physical combat with his earstwhile enemies of Justice in the live-action one, tho'. Weirdly, that does nothing to detract from my enjoyment of it.

Good observation, toodark00!

Being an enormous fan of the comic book and the cartoon series, I was excited when the Tick live action show was announced. I'm a real stickler to keeping adaptations true to the originals, but in some cases, updates must be made.

Let's keep in mind that the Tick cartoon was a CARTOON. Which means they can do anything they please for an episode because it's all animated. In the live action show, they had budgets for their special effects and actually, most of the episode scripts had to be changed because they didn't have enough money.

I don't think mainstream audiences will ever catch on to shows as subtly humorous or "out there" like the Tick, but I do not think the show was a mockery, just the opposite in fact, all of the characters retained the original characteristics of their cartoon counterparts. I wish this show had been giving the time to really develop into the great show it could have been.

No, we're not crazy, we just accept changes as natural. It's called an opinion, we have ours and you have yours.

Yeah, let's have way more dancing with the stars, american idol and crap like the hills instead. ugh...tv has just gotten stupid. every decent show gets cancelled. carpoolers, I'm looking in your direction.

Did you even watch the show? Cause its a pretty good representation of the tick.

Real original opinion. You must be that same guy who always says the original was better. Guess what? Most art is at least a partial copy of something else. It requires a lot more love for a concept to respect a new version of it than it does to say "I like the original better and this isn't the same." There are a lot of great jokes in the live action Tick and I hope it gets brought back.

This is now in my top 10 of funniest shows I've ever seen. I don't understand how my sense of humor can be so different from others here, or maybe the mixed metaphors and creative language is just too brilliant for them to understand?

Anyway, according to comments here, a lot of people familiar with the comic version that precedes this TV version don't like the TV version. Therefore, I will *not* seek out the comic version, for it will surely spoil some of the best entertainment I've seen in years!

I'm with you. I haven't seen the cartoon version of the Tick but after seeing the live-action version, i don't want to! Patrick was an awesome choice for a character with a vocabulary like The Tick. And his antennae we're priceless!

See I don't think that's right. I read the comic first, and saw the cartoon second. If anyone liked the live-action show but never read the comics or saw the cartoon, that just seems really wrong and backward. It shouldn't turn you OFF to the cartoon; if anything it should have made you want to see it all the more, and understand where it originated from. The comic books were hilarious, in fact I hung onto them over the years even though I got rid of most of my other comics because they really were quality humor. How can you know what kind of vocabulary the Tick had to begin with, if you never saw the cartoon?
