I want to remake this premise for a teen film

I am currently a film student, and I saw this film on VH1 when I was a freshman in high school. I thought that this basic storyline would work really well as a film geared toward teenagers---the woman with the voice but not the body could be a nerdy class valedictorian who plays the cello and listens to classic rock on LPs, especially Boston. WDYGT? I can expand on this idea.
