Someone who knows plz explain this

Why did neo's body in the matrix at the end briefly turn into the oracle? What was that about

reply

That wasn't Neo's body, that was Smith's body. More correctly that was the Oracle's body that Smith had infected. Now with Smith destroyed the body reverted to its original appearance, that of the Oracle.

At the end Neo's body in the Matrix doesn't exist at all (nor does Smith's).

Exactly right.

Remember when the Merovingian wanted "The Eyes of the Oracle"? It is clear that when Smith assimilated the Oracle, he got her eyes (ability to see the future).

But it was kinda weird. When The Oracle became Smith there was all this weird wind and light all around. And afterwards, the other Smiths all looked like they were afraid of this new Smith version (who became the leader).

Still, we think that Smith has taken over The Oracle, until he finds himself forced to say, in her voice, "Everything that has a beginning, has an end, Neo".

That plus the Oracle's dead body tells us that within that version of Smith, a copy of The Oracle was still inside him, making him make the mistakes that would lead to his defeat.

The first major event of the Matrix Online was a mission to recover the scattered pieces of Neo's RSI (residual self-image). Once all were found, Neo's digital projection was successfully reassembled but Morpheus didn't have Neo's body. The Machines would not return it but they also verified that it was NOT recycled.

True. That mission however wasn't written by Paul Chadwick (the Wachowski-approved writer) but rather the LESIG game designers. It's for that reason that nothing came out of the assembled Neo, it was just a nice event for the players with no deeper meaning.

The not-recycling bit though was written by Chadwick, although in his notes he never wrote what he intended to do with this (probably nothing).

Except that they eventually wrote in bread crumbs about a woman named Sarah Edmontons waking up from a coma. (Anagram of Thomas Anderson) This woman supposedly did not exist in any known Machine database so there was speculation that it was Neo.

Also, not too long before the game was shut down, there was correspondence from someone claiming to be Morpheus (who by this point had been killed in the game) stating that Neo was still alive and being held captive by the Machines.

There were also other events that alluded to Smith still being present somewhere in the simulation.

Also something the live events mission designers team came up with, also without consulting the game's writer. When the game was transferred to SOE from WB because it was a massive flop, because those people didn't move over and because none of this was thought up by Paul Chadwick, Edmontons wasn't brought up again in the next 4 years.
