When the three boys are brought in to the police station, the bald, goateed cop at the desk starts out giving them long, strange looks. Then we find out that he has some sort of rapport with Big John - John promises to send him a list of names and phone numbers.
There seems to be an implication that Big John and the policeman may be part of some underground pedo ring. Did anybody else get that impression from watching this scene?

shareI didn't get this. I saw the police as the typical small community type who tries to 'stay in touch' with the neighbourhood. I think John's presence here was to show that the cop was a bit naive and that also John is good at grooming people to meet his needs, getting their trust and confidence. My understanding is that paedophiles often become frineds with a child's parents to gain their confidence that allows the paedophile access to the victim. In this case it was John (the Vet) sucking up to the cops.
