not all bad

The drug refrences in this movie are great for awareness of the harmful life-long effects of drugs. But the plot is confusing. Is this a movie about drug use or about corruption? It's not really about both as its like you are watching two movies. At times the director seems in two minds of where the movie is headed. I enjoyed parts of this movie, but over all it left me confused.

I really liked this movie. Far better than Sarah Michelle Gellar's- Scooby Doo. I still bought that movie though.

Obviously we have different taste. If you hate this movie so much act like the "adult" you are and ignore the posts.

I rented this movie last week, and it spoilt my hole weekend.

The reason I have replied to this post is to hopefully put other people off of watching it, as it is IMO a complete pile of bullocks.

You really can't be serious about liking it!

THE LORD OF THE RINGS IS A BIG PILE OF SMELLY *beep*! It's so modern and predictable. So just shutup, this movie wasn't great, it was okay. I give it a 7/10. So just folk off. I give LOTR 3/10. But I'm not on that board pi ssing and moaning about stupid stuff.

eh whatever... it is an OK movie, but not for everyone.
Sober and non 'experimental' people will not truly appriciete this.

reply

i've done plenty of drugs and this movie is horrid. one of the worst i have ever seen.

reply

Hrm... go watch King's Guard... i'm sure u'll eat your words.

I personally liked this movie, probably 7.5-8 out of 10 in my books.

Its definatly not for everyone, in fact... i think this movie is ment to

entertain a very specific type of people. Thats my 2 cents...

What exactly did you do on this movie? Obviously anyone who would defend this pile of crap would have to be someone who stands to gain from its success. This was quite possibly the worst pile of slop I've ever seen. The story was complete nonsense and full of holes, they obviously took too long trying to get a bunch of artistic shots, ran out of time, and finished with all closeups, and didn't even hardly do any OTS shots. Plus, I swear the dialogue was all read without another actor to play off of. Total crap, there's no way to defend it. It's teally too bad, because Sarah Michelle Gellar is a really good actress, and because she's typecast, these are the only kinds of roles she gets. Shame.

reply

i disagree on 2 points here...

1. SMG is not a really good actress, she is an alright actress and has been typecasted because people have recognised her limitations.

2. If you were into the movie, you would realise that all those 'artsy' shots that u were complaining about were done in order to discribe the mindset of someone in the situation of the main character.

I'll be the first to admit this movie wasnt a masterpiece. However it was much better then some of the trash out there today.

You know, I thought the first half hour of the movie was really unbearable. The dialogue was painful and the guy creeped me out 'cause he looked a little like Robbie Benson.
Once SMG went bad, I forgot about the dialogue (think sex, lies and videotape). I was blown away by the frenetic scene in the FBI office. It conveyed quite well the LSD trip. I'll give the director credit for that scene, but, unfortunately, he didn't guide his actors to cohesive performances. Each character had one good scene, but the actors performances were so uneven that even good pieces didn't make a great whole movie.
Hey, I didn't turn it off, though.

1. I don't think that is not true at all. She is amazing on Buffy where she has played a wide range of roles in the character of Buffy throughout the series.

But each to their own, I guess.

reply

I saw the first thirty minutes of the movie and it seemed decent. The script and camera shots were dynamic and well thoughtout...that and SMG is so bangable. I wanted to like this movie, Alan seemed a lot like me, but it stunk. Here's a couple of reasons.

There's no meat to the dialogue. It sounds pretty, but its fluff. I'd guess the writer dropped out of college sometime after he flunked an introductory philosophy class.

The camera shots are repetitive! I swear, I'm going to puke if I ever see another circular pan shot followed by an exterme closeup.

The movie is ripoff of a Hays era film. Reefer Madness, Psych Out, The Trip...take your pick if you want a classic movie taking pot shots at drugs. Even the ending of Harvard Man is a near copy of The Trip.

That said, the movie is mindless masterbation. Don't except anything profound but you'll get a few quick jollies.

reply

It is definately not a ripoff, it is autobiographical.
