love it!

I first saw this short film when I was in high school and I fell in love with it. I showed it in college during a Holocaust awareness program and I now use to teach Holocaust awareness in my high school English classroom. It's a great piece with a highly effective message and one I would absolutely use again and again!!!

But where do you find it? The animator, Paul Julian, did it as an independent, apparently, despite the fact he was variously connected with both Warner Brothers and UPA Studios during his career. I saw it when I was in elementary school, and for years have been trying to find it. There is one faded copy, apparently, at the Pacific Film Archive, but otherwise there seems to be none available. According to Russell Merritt, at UC Berkeley, Maurice Ogden wrote the poem not so much as a condemnation of the Holocaust, but as a condemnation of the Mccarthy witchhunts of the 1950s, in which his wife was caught up. But the poem (and film) work either way. If you know any source for this film in VHS or DVD form, please let me know. Thanks.

It's only on 16mm reel but a conversion would be possible.
