I'd argue that this one is better than the Hangover, which is by far the most overrated movie of the year, maybe of the decade.

reply

No, that award would go to the Dark Knight.

"I thought "The Dark Knight" was amazing. It was the first movie I had to wait in line for, and it was well worth it. "The Hangover" however was a bit overrated in my opinion. I can't believe it's still in the top 250. I went in expecting it to be as shocking, and hilarious as "Superbad". It turned out to be just an okay comedy with a few laughs here, and there. "The Hangover" was better than "Dude, where's my car?", but not by much."

I'm going to have to disagree, though I thought the Dark Knight was a great film, I thought it was a little overrated, and the same with Superbad. Sure, I saw it in theaters and own it, but definitely not "F'n hilarious and super awesome". The Hangover, however wasn't overrated. It was done magnificently, always kept you laughing but the most important part was it kept you SUCKED IN. You WANTED to know what happened, you wanted to know the next piece of the puzzle. It's certainly better than DWMY, like you said. Though I'm a fan of this film, I just have to say it really doesn't come close to beating the Hangover.

Although I enjoyed both films, the hangover did seem to be a less funny version of Dude where's my car, with a few celeb cameos thrown in to make you laugh so I would have to say I think Dude is a better comedy.

I think the Hangover is worse than this by a long shot. Dude is alot better, and Hangover is just a copy of this movie.

You also have to compare this to Harold and Kumar (same director, but literally the same idea: people being high or messed up on some other drug and having wacky adventures). H&K was just a mainstream version of this movie, and DWMC is much better. It is easily one of the best comedies, though Hangover is good in its own right. Hangover was basically a "frattier" version of DWMC attempting to appeal to a crowd that is into getting blackout drunk and taking pills (though it clearly can resonate with most people- since most people desire to take drugs and escape reality but don't). All in all, these movies are extremely interesting as they allow people to experience ultimate drug induced stories without actually doing it and killing themselves in the process.

I waited to see The Hangover until it came to OnDemand so I heard from EVERYONE how great it was. I was excited to watch it, got some beers to help enjoy it more, and other than Zach G I didn't like it at all. The first thing I thought that it was a horrible rip off of Dude; they even stole some of the same jokes.

As for the frat boy comment, this movie was very popular with that crowd and other comedy lovers at the time. The genre has taken a definitely taken a turn that was good for a while but has run it's course. Evolution is necessary and that's what I was expecting from the Hangover. I think so many people liked it because it wasn't seth rogen or will ferrell again.

I love Dude, but then again Major Payne is also one of my favorite movies.

This movie is a little more enjoyable than it should be. I like it a little than Harold and Kumar, from the same director.
