It's nowhere near that bad

All the reviews on IMDB I read were negative or regurgitating the advertisments. But I thought this game was pretty good. It didn't have the "cool" of the first two, but I thought it was a well put together game. There was always plenty to do and the environments varied enough, even though they were just extensions of the first two games. It wasn't my favourite game, but I didn't feel like writing a review, so I decided to voice a different opinion here.

Yeah, me and my sister wold play it all the time. In fact, my favorite part of the game was the soundtrack, particlarly the Krack-Shot Krok type music, which I could never get tired of, though it has some other good tracks too.

I don't even know why the term "bad" is even used in the same sentence with this game, it's awesome! Would those people who don't like it rather have had it exactly similar to DKC 2? I like the new layout and all the new twists, the levels are fun, and graphically beautiful and detailed, the music rocks (there's beautiful music too), the bosses are probably the best of the 3 DKC games, the game has it all. Of course, it's not quite as good as DKC 2, but it holds its own. Bravo game!

I think what hurt DKC3 during its original release was that it was released a couple months after the N64 came out. A lot of people also felt the gameplay wasn't much different from #2: go through level, find bonus levels where you win stuff, collect DK coins and discover the hidden "Lost World".

Still, I feel the game is one of the most underrated games for the SNES. I liked the variety in level designs (the lakes, forests, mountains, factories), the ability to travel across the world maps, the water vehicles and inventive boss fights.

While #3 may not have the pop influence of the original DKC, it holds up as a better game, IMO.
